Sometimes The Best SEO Strategy is to Do Nothing at All!
By Jeffrey Smith in Featured
Sometimes the best SEO Strategy is to do nothing at all (after you have set the stage for website authority to augment future growth). With so many facets of search engine optimization, battles in the SERPs (search engine result pages) are won every day across millions of competing phrases by careful adherence to relevance, popularity, consistency and engagement.
What may not be as clear are the contributing factors that elevate one website consistently higher than any other in the category. My hypothesis is simple (1) the content must be impeccable and (2) the sources that reference the site must have trust. The graduation from just another site into industry expert is a crowning achievement.
Instead of building links, if more webmasters focused on who links to you, what anchor text they are using and where the link is pointed (hopefully at the most appropriate page), then acquiring top 10 rankings would not be out of the ordinary. Search engine algorithms are mathematical guardians of the index. Their job is to ensure order and relevance and function transparently behind the scenes of every search.
The first objective is based on the worthiness of your content (creating the ranking criteria that can get you in the top 1000 searches). From there it is a series of on-page and off-page combinations that toggle relevance and affect where you content lands in the search engine result pages. This metric is often easily influenced (particularly when endorsed from authority sources). So, just because you rank in the top 70 for example, does not mean that ranking is etched in stone.
How To Make Online Forums Work For You
By Jessica Swanson in Featured
There are literally thousands of internet forums. They are a wonderful place to advertise your business. Best of all, online forums bring free advertising to your business; what is better than free advertising?
Online forums are simply a way to exchange ideas and offer information to others.
There are two main reasons to participate in forums:
1) To answer other people’s questions/comments
2) To post your own original questions/comments.
One of your goals is to promote your expertise in your particular industry. Remember, people are attracted to leaders and if you come to the forums with a leadership mentality ‘ people will begin to seek out your advice and counsel.
How to Participate in a Forum
Simply click on a link at the bottom of this page to log into an online forum.
- Create your free account (including username and password; keep the same username, password and signature for all the forums that you belong to)
- Create your signature file (an ad placed at the end of each of your forum posts). This signature file is of the upmost importance! It advertises your business to everyone that is in these forums. The more posts that you make on online forums, the more people will potentially be exposed to your website (through your signature file).
Here are 10 sample signature files that you can use for your home-based business:
Finally….an Honest AND Lucrative Home-Based Business Are You Ready to Make $5,000 a Week?
Dreams CAN Come True! Take Part in a 7-Trillion Dollar Industry! Don’t Let Another Day Pass You By… You Deserve Prosperity! It’s Time to Change Your Life! EVERYONE Loves to Travel. Tired of Living Paycheck to Paycheck? It’s Time to Plug Into Success!
You then “hide” your URL inside of the signature file. This can be done by clicking on the button that says “link” and then typing your URL inside of this pop-up box.
Remember, some people will help you out a great deal; others will be negative and difficult. Don’t let the negative people depress you. Keep your focus always positive! Don’t get into fights or “yell” at people online. You want your posts to always remain positive and helpful, no matter what!
RULES FOR FORUM POSTING:
- You can post in any forum that is interesting to you. Although the “Main Discussion” areas will have the most activity, experiment and get to know the people in the different online communities. You will find that they offer an enormous amount of support and free tips. They will, in essence, become your friends as you travel through your online adventures!
- Make sure that when you respond to posts you never blatantly advertise your business. BLATANT ADVERTISING IS HEAVILY FROWNED UPON! Instead, offer comments, suggestions, and questions. Remember, your advertising is in your sig file.
- In addition, your posts should always add fresh insight to the discussion. - If you decide to begin a new post, take the time to look back over the previous original posts to make sure that no one has posted on that topic before. If there is a similar post, join that discussion instead.
HOW TO POST YOUR REPLY:
- Click on the Title of the discussion that you would like to contribute to
- Click on “Reply to Topic”
- Type you reply in the new page
- Click “Preview” to look-over your post
- Click “New Reply”
Your job in forums is to establish new relationships with people. Once people begin to see you as a leader and an expert, they will be much more open to hearing about your business!

3 Reasons Why Adsense Is Essential For Content Sites
By Graeme Briggs in Featured
To know why Adsense is essential for your content sites is to know first how this works.
The concept is really simple, if you think about it. The publisher or the webmaster inserts a java script into a certain website. Each time the page is accessed, the java script will pull advertisements from the Adsense program. The ads that are targeted should therefore be related to the content that is contained on the web page serving the ad. If a visitor clicks on an advertisement, the webmaster serving the ad earns a portion of the money that the advertiser is paying the search engine for the click.
The search engine is the one handling all the tracking and payments, providing an easy way for webmasters to display content-sensitive and targeted ads without having the hassle to solicit advertisers, collect funds, monitor the clicks and statistics which could be a time-consuming task. It seems that there is never a shortage of advertisers in the program from which the search engine pulls the Adsense ads. Also webmasters are less concerned by the lack of information search engines are providing and are more focused in making cash from these search engines.
The first reason why Adsense is essential for content sites is because it already has come a long way in understanding the needs of publishers and webmasters. Together with its continuous progression is the appearance of more advanced system that allows full ad customization. Webmasters are given the chance to choose from many different types of text ad formats to better complement their website and fit their webpage layout.
The different formatting enables the site owners the possibility of more click through from visitors who may or may not be aware of what they are clicking on. It can also appeal to the people visiting thus make them take that next step of looking up what it is all about. This way the people behind the Adsense will get their content read and making profit in the process.
The second reason is the ability of the Adsense publishers to track not only how their sites are progressing but also the earnings based on the webmaster-defined channels. The recent improvements in the search engines gives webmasters the capability to monitor how their ads are performing using customizable reports that has the capacity to detail page impressions, clicks and click-through rates. Webmasters and publishers can now track specific ad formats, colors and pages within a website. Trends are also easily spotted.
With the real-time reporting at hand, the effectiveness of the changes made will be assessed quickly. There would be time to sort out the contents that people are making the most clicks on. The ever-changing demands would be met while generating cash for the webmasters and publishers. The more flexible tools are also allowing webmasters to group web pages by URL, domain, ad type or category, which will provide them some accurate insight on which pages, ads and domains are performing best.
The last and final reason is that the advertisers have realized the benefits associated having their ads served on targeted websites. Thus, increasing the possibility that a prospective web surfer will have an interest in their products and services. All because of the content and its constant maintenance. As opposed to those who are no using Adsense in their sites, they are given the option of having other people do their content for them, giving them the benefit of having successful and money-generating web sites.
Adsense is all about targeted content, the more targeted your content is, the more target the search engines’ ads will be. There are some web masters and publishers who are focused more on their site contents and how best to maintain them rather than the cash that the ads will generate for them. This is the part where the effectiveness is working its best.
There was a time when people were not yet aware of the money to be achieved from advertisements. The cash generated only came into existence when the webmasters and publishers realized how they can make Adsense be that generator. In those days, the content was the most important factors that are taken quite seriously. It still is. With the allure of money, of course.

Twitter Means Conversational Search is the Next Big Thing
By Kalena Jordan in Featured
Unless you’ve been living under a rock, you’ll have noticed that Twitter has been the rising social media star of 2008. Twitter is basically community micro-blogging, or group chat, similar to the old IRC communities that were around in the 1990s, but more interactive. Twitter even has it’s own lingo such as tweet, retweet, tweeple, twits and twitterati.
The sheer influence of Twitter in such a short space of time has impacted the very nature of social media. There are reports that people are spending more time twittering than writing blog posts or posting to forums. What is it about Twitter? Is it the instantaneous conversation? The voyeur factor? Or the undeniable human instinct to follow the crowd?
Whatever it is, Twitter’s got it. So much so that new search engines have sprung up to enable people to search Twitter conversations that they might have missed. Two of these are Summize and Twistori. The first enables you to search Twitter conversations via keyword, phrase or Twit. The second and most fascinating one is a voyeuristic slide show of conversations in real time, based around six emotions: Love Hate Wish Think Believe Feel and Wish. From the imagination of one of my favorite Webstock speakers, Amy Hoy, together with Thomas Fuchs, Twistori has already gained attention and praise from Twitter founders.
So now there’s no excuse for missing the conversation.
