I went to Google Webmaster Help with a real (advanced) problem and though some tried to help, they aren't very knowledgeable except for basic newbie stuff. When I politely pointed out the error in their comments, they just got rude.

The forums are patrolled by about 3 people who seem to answer most questions, but they aren't much good at it. It's a shame. Google could have a good thing there but it is controlled by too many know-nothings.

Couldn't disagree more. I find the 'Help Group' bloated with waste of time entries and where serious questions have been asked the response has been often been noticeable by its absence!
To qualify this. I have only used the service a couple of times this year but on both occasions ditto above.

You're welcome Adam. I have great respect for many of your bionic posters in that group and I think it's very cool that you have repaid them via some link juice and kudos. Now if only Craig and his NY team can build an algorithm to deal with that tricky global warming problem!

Kalena,

Thanks for posting about this! Our groups mean a lot to us, and I'm often bummed when I hear webmasters say, "I couldn't find any place to ask a question about Google and indexing!" and I disocover they don't know about these groups. So I appreciate you helping to get the word out :)

Regards,
Adam, who remembers just a couple of years back when we had only one monitored group (in English) and a small handful of us Google Guides; now there are 16 groups, dozens of Guides :)

P.S. -- Thank you also for the suggestions re: tackling world peace and global warming. But we already have a branch of Google that works on stuff like that (google.org), and I wouldn't want us to step on their toes :P
