Although, WordPress (and Blogger) are free, hosting is so inexpensive these days, it is probably better to buy your own domain.

At least with your own domain, you now are in control of an asset. Hostgator, Bluehost, and a myriad of others allow unlimited domains for about $10/mo. It usually costs $10 to $15/yr for the domain name itself. That is pretty inexpensive.
