Hi. I’ve been studying SEO techniques for ages and I think I have all that I can in already (my software is webeasy pro – a bit moody to say the least) to the best of my knowledge. I’m not getting much traffic or conversions though. Could you see what you think? I’m going to build a new site soon with better online software so anything I can’t pull off on this one I should be able to do on the next.
Thanks,
Mike.

Excellent article. This really summarizes the 'final hump' that webmasters must get over. After you get through the initial challenges, this is the final obstacle to tackle before you start making money. Good article!!!

@ Pete, uscandleco.com

Glad you liked the article, Pete. I'd be happy to give some feedback on your site but it would help if you told me what issue you're currently looking to improve upon. Higher rankings? More relevant traffic? Higher conversions? Let me know at www.freshpromo.ca/contact/ and I'll have a look.

Thanks,
John Metzler

@ Samuel James

Thanks for reading and welcome to the world of Internet marketing :)

If you have a new site and are just a novice starting out with your blog, I'd recommend reading other articles here at SiteProNews that give a step by step approach to promoting new web sites. It looks like you still need to focus on the basics of SEO (do your keyword research, place the appropriate words in your important site pages, use proven link building techniques, etc.) These topics are frequently covered in the SPN newsletter. Of course, SEO is just one way out of many to drive traffic to your site.

Once you have an established site and have tried a number of different marketing approaches, then my article might be more applicable to your situation (but hopefully not - ideally your site does well after employing SEO techniques)

If you're interested in investing in professional SEO services, here is my site: www.freshpromo.ca

@ Garden Mad

It looks like you're targeting the general keyword "Gardening Supplies" on your site. This phrase is very competitive so my advice would be research what some niche phrases are at freekeywords.wordtracker.com and use them throughout the inner pages of your site. You'll compete with smaller sites and have a chance at getting some decent rankings in the short term.

If your goal is to rank well on search engines and drive traffic that way, you'll need to employ some SEO methods first. If you have the time you can learn about SEO on sites like SiteProNews and others, or you can invest in professional SEO services.

I'm obviously not familiar with your web traffic stats but it could be that your site falls into the 1st category in my article, "You Aren't Getting Traffic." Getting traffic through SEO takes time and constant building of incoming links.

Great article and has been very informative. I am new to internet marketing and have been working on my first blog. I would very much appreciate you taking a look and commenting on what you think can be improved. So far i have been struggling with the keyword placement and meta tag issue.
Best regards

AM I TOO LATE?
I just read your article; it was actually the first ray of light I have seen in a couple of weeks, not because I am glad my website sucks - maybe it does - but because at last there is someone who is prepared to really answer the readers. My website was my husbands idea, but I didn't know it was his answer to losing his income with the recession. I absolutely love the website though, so that part has been very positive for me; only trouble is, we were supposed to recoup outlay in 90 days! We have been going 5 months now and have earned ~ $20. Not enough to pay the mortgage. Any helpful suggestions will be implemented within the hour - http://www.gardeningforeveryman.com
