I agree 100% with the points mentioned here. I also agree that many web design firms do not really do SEO, nor do they actually build sites that optimize well in search. I sometimes get clients who have had the wool pulled over their eyes in terms of paying design companies who claimed to do SEO for them in addition to designing what usually turns out to be a horrible website that does not optimize. Sometimes potential clients tell us we are high, but we then tell them that we stand behind our work 100% and that we have a long history of satisfied clients, Quality work, plus you can reach us on the phone even after we are done! Even months later! So while we might not be the cheapest in town, we do offer things that many design firms don’t and I think that is important in today’s market.
