    Very Nice Article. I used to combat with the negative stories which used to rank well in search engine against the company listing. And, I successfully pushed the negative story from top 10 pages of the Google.

    DO’s – a) Create several blogs on different blog creating sites and link them to your company site and maintain all the blogs weekly or biweekly.
    b) Do social tagging and always tries to provide link to the positive listing which is coming right after the negative story.
    c) Create small sites with the static content which tends to rank quickly.
    d) Do click on the positive stories which are coming after the negative story.

    DON’T
    a) DO NOT click on the negative story as this gives the visitors and it helps in ranking well in search engine.
    b) DON’T mention about the negative story published against your company site in your newsletter, article, blogs.
    c) DO NOT try to be attacker instead be defender.

    Let me share some of my thoughts with you too:
    1. Negative public relations and fighting with it is WAY more than just SEO.
    2. Killing the bad reviews by spmming the search engine may lead to situation that disgruntled customer(s) will go further. I mean – not recommended in long run.
    3. Pretending there is no problem when it clearly exists will not help either – at least when this long run is concerned.
    4. Sometimes this official confession itself may help you… kind of long story why is it so :)
