Yes, I agree that for most webmasters, link building is a never ending process. I’ve had dozens and dozens of webmasters tell me that they loved my site, but that they would only link to it if I linked back.

Which leads me to my question. How useful or link exchanges?

Problem with SEO is it’s ever changing. The search engines use algorithms that they do not disclose to determine website positioning. By the time we have figured something out from experience and trial and error, the next change has occured

I think the best thing is to make sure you have unique useful content on your sites. That requirement does not ever seem to change

This web site is discount Sterling Silver Jewelry. If I type a search in Google for discount sterling silver jewelry the real stats are not displayed. When you get to the bottom of the displayed results then you see a link for what you actually requested. Why is that?

Any changes you make to a page’s content can affect how relevant the search engines believe it to be for any particular search query. That doesn’t mean it definitely will change the search results, but it could. The only way to know is to try it and see. Usually, if you’re rewriting your page to be more useful to your site visitors and you don’t remove all the instances of the keyword phrase, you should be fine. Because nothing is permanent with SEO, if you don’t like what you see you can tweak it until you do.
