My family have accommodation in Australia. I do our marketing from home, as I have a toddler. It's hard to keep up with ideas on internet marketing, so I am hoping to find some useful sites. Any suggestions would be great!

Recommendations made by well-known individual who have been into online business for a couple of years now can be a great help in searching a useful material. Experienced people can easily say or at least give hint if a certain strategy will be working or not.

That is an excellent point, David.

Unfortunately, testimonials can be faked. That's why it is a good idea to step back and look at the "big picture" before making a decision about something.

Testimonials and endorsements are one piece of the puzzle - but it is also important to check out other sources of information on the topic. (i.e., Is the overall "buzz" good? Is it coming from a group you can identify with? (in terms of tactics, etc...)

When it comes right down to it - sometimes you have to trust your gut. At the end of the day, you have to look at the cost (in terms of both time and money) of whatever you are considering and decide if the potential return on investment is worthwhile.

There is still some risk with this approach - but at least it is a calculated risk. :)

Testimonials are a great selling point for a product or website. But I do doubt their authenticity at times, especially when only a name and email are included. In fact, even when a website is included, there is still a chance that the testimonial is fake. :(
