Article Submission Sites: Ezine Article Submission
By Steve Shaw in Featured
Submitting articles by hand is the most time consuming and least effective way to submit your articles, but as you’re getting started you may want to submit articles manually until you get a handle on how article marketing works.
When you’re submitting articles by hand, there are 3 main types of article submission sites to whom you will want to submit.
They are: Ezine Editors, Article Announcement Lists, and Article Directories.
This article focusses specifically on doing an ezine article submission.
1 – Ezine editors manage email newsletters. They look for free reprint articles to include in their newsletter publications.
2 – Ezine editors are a very special type of publisher because their newsletters are sent directly to the email inboxes of a group of people who have specially requested to receive communications from the editor.
This is a big deal because it means that the people on the ezine editor’s newsletter list are interested in reading the content that the editor provides. That means that if your article is included in one of these newsletters that it will likely be welcomed and read with interest.
3 – Ezines are “highly targeted”–that means that the people who are subscribed to a particular newsletter have a strong interest in the topic of the newsletter.
For example, if the ezine is about parenting, the people who are subscribed to that ezine are very interested in that topic. If there is a compelling article on a particular aspect of parenting in the ezine, then it is highly likely that the reader would want to see more information at the author’s website.
Since ezines have such a specific audience, there is an increased chance that a reader will click your resource box link and go to your website.
4 – Ezine subscribers trust the opinion of the person whose ezine they are subscribed to. An ezine editor is not just publishing an article on a website–he is sending your article directly to the people who have signed up to his list.
What does it take to get on someone’s list?
Well, you need to give your name and email and grant the newsletter owner permission to send you emails.
That is a big deal–most of the time you would not give someone that privilege unless you trusted that the ezine editor would only send you information that was helpful and accurate.
So, there is an element of trust already going on between the ezine editor and the people who receive his newsletter. This relationship of trust helps the readers be more welcoming of your article and more open to you. The ezine editor has given you his vote of confidence, and his readers are more likely to give you a shot.
5 – When your article appears in an ezine it can be sent to thousands of people all at one time. You do not have to wait for people to find your article via a Google search or by looking at an article directory–it is sent to many people all at one time. Because of this widespread and sudden exposure, being published in an ezine can result in a sudden upsurge of traffic to your website.
How do you find places where you can do ezine article submissions?
First, you need to locate ezine editors who are interested in publishing articles in your niche. After that, you need to verify that they are currently accepting article submissions.
When you’ve established a list of ezine editors, you need to keep the list current. Things can change quickly in the online world, so you need to keep your publisher list up to date. That is an ongoing task that needs to be done at least once a month.
Here’s a list of ezine article submission sites to help you get started. Tips to Make Copywriting In Your Landing Page Effective
By Pilar Torres Wahlberg in Featured
The term “website writing” creates a notion that means everything from copywriting a landing page to SEO writing. Other site owners even think of it as their product description content, reviews, and articles. But these writing styles really differ from one another. When you do copywriting, you have to be very creative. It is the page that can either make your visitor to buy your products or make them leave the page.
Internet marketers easily determine the worth of a good copy. That’s why when they cannot write the landing page on their own, they’re willing to pay large sums of money to have it written properly. Copywriting the landing page involves a fine balance of informing interested visitors about a particular product/service while at the same time withholding other relevant information. This forces them to click on the next link for more information. Below are some rules you should keep in mind in copywriting a landing page:
Always Use Attention-Grabbing Headlines – A person will immediately see relevant keywords when he is searching for something. Ensure that your headline refers to the ad copy that caused the click. Use your creativity to write an irresistible (but true) offer he can’t refuse.
Write a Clear Call to Action – after the headline, the call to action – whether in the form of highlighted text, ad banner, or button, is the most important. Visitors need to know exactly what to do after they enter your website. In a short landing page, repeat the offer at least twice. In a longer page, repeat it 3-5 times.
Address the Customer Directly – instead of using we, us, and our, change it to YOU and YOURS. Let them know what your company can do for them and the benefits it provides. Also, writing in the second person also looks friendlier and relaxed. Make them feel like they’re just listening to their friend.
Deliver the Message Directly – Use creativity for conversion in writing an online landing page. Instead of thinking of it as an art form, try to view it as a business tool. It is supposed to persuade visitors to take action, not make you feel good about your personal expression.
Keep the Content Closely Written – some copywriter advise against long copy. But the truth is, this really isn’t a problem as long as you keep it tightly written. If the content is written firmly, a reader will likely continue reading it and if there is enough motivation for him to do so.
And finally, you should remember that you are writing for the web. Readers online are generally less patient than print readers. Keep the most important points at the beginning, use subheadings, and make use of various elements such as buttons, graphics, and highlighted text where appropriate.

All You Need to Know About YouTube’s Promoted Videos
By Merle in Featured
Way back in 2006, Google purchased YouTube.com for an alleged reported figure of 1.65 billion dollars. And, like with everything Google does, they’ve added their own special “Google Touches” over the last several years, turning it into one of the most popular video destination websites online today.
Need proof? According to Comscore.com’s December 2009 “Videos Viewed Report”, YouTube was ranked as the top U.S. video site serving up 13.2 billion of the total 33.2 billion videos that were viewed online in the U.S. for that month alone. That’s a lot of people watching mega videos. For more stats see comScore.
Twitter and Privacy: History Never Retweets
By Kalena Jordan in Featured
Ever had a case of the *tipsy tweets*?
You know what I’m talking about. The type of tweets you’d never post to Twitter sober but that seem highly amusing after a couple of alcoholic beverages. The ones you rush to delete on Monday morning in a coffee-induced panic when you remember what or who you tweeted. Yeah those.
Well, the next time your fingertip hovers over the send button after you’ve had a few, you might want to think twice about letting it make contact with the keyboard.
It turns out that the Library of Congress has decided to digitally archive EVERY public tweet that has been posted to Twitter since the site launched in 2006. With 50 million tweets processed by Twitter every day, that adds up to billions of messages.
Why You Need A .htaccess File For SEO
By Martin Sejas in Featured
There are a good chance that you are wondering what the topic of SEO has to do with the .htaccess file.
In fact, it plays quite an important role in the way your website is ranked by the search engines. The problem is that few people are aware of its importance and it could be affecting the ranking of your website right at this moment.
What Is A .htaccess File?
According to Wikipedia, a .htaccess file is “the default name of a directory-level configuration file that allows for decentralized management of web server configuration.” If you’re not a computer whiz (and I’m not), such a definition is simply impossible to understand. So putting aside all the computer programming terminology, a .htaccess file is a tiny file which is placed within a website to do a number of functions.
This article will only cover 2 of these functions (there are many others) because they are only ones related to the topic of SEO. I will also show you how to write the .htaccess file so that you use your .htaccess file for maximum SEO effect.
Blocking Users
A .htaccess file can be used to allow and block users by domain or IP address. You would want to do such a thing because there are several online tools which people use to get the keywords that their competitors are using. This will then allow them to target your keywords and potentially push you down the search rankings. For example, one such tool is SpyFu. They literally allow you to spy on your competitors. If you want stop such tools from being used on your website by your competitors, then simply structure your .htaccess file like the example at the bottom of this article.
Redirecting URLs
If you did a search on Google and looked through the search results, you will find that some websites are indexed with www. in front of them and others without it. If you searched a bit deeper, you will probably find some websites indexed twice, once with the www. in front of them and others without it. Why is this the case?
This is due to backlinks being built to both the www. and the non-www. but the search engine treats them as separate websites. This means that you are creating links to 2 separate websites instead of just one. As a result, any SEO benefit is getting divided up between 2 websites when they could helping just one and getting much better results. If you want to avoid such a problem, all you need to do is redirect one URL to the other. It is best to redirect the URL with the least amount of backlinks to the one with the most amount of backlinks.
.htaccess File Example
Below is the .htaccess file I use for the great majority of my websites. It blocks access to the biggest and well-known spying tools on the Web as well as redirects a non-www. URL to a www. URL. Modify the code slightly by replacing “yourdomain” with your URL.
Simply copy the code, paste it in a notepad file and then save it as .htaccess. Then upload it using ftp or other means to your website.

It’s amazing how a little bit of code can make a big difference to your SEO efforts.
Just in case you’re wondering, this is the only time that I will make reference to programming code when talking about SEO. The role of the .htaccess file was far too important to ignore and not share with all of you.

“How do I get my website to come up on top of the search engines?” – That is one of the most frequently asked questions I get asked by clients.
The truth is, it’s not easy. With millions of websites on the internet right now and thousands being added each month, everyone is striving to do the same – to come up in the first spot (or on the first page).
In reality there are only 2 ways you can come up on top:
- Set up a pay per click advertising campaign, such as Google Adwords
- Optimise your website for keywords (also know as Search Engine Optimisation)
Keywords
Before you embark on either of these marketing methods, you need to understand about keywords.
Keywords or key phrases are the words that visitors type into a search engine to find a service or product. The best keywords are those that are commonly typed in by your potential customers, but which aren’t used much on your competitor’s websites. In other words, if you optimize your pages for keywords your potential customers use a lot, but your competitors haven’t thought of, you win. But here’s the catch…you’ll never get to know which are the best keywords for your website simply by guessing.
There are many tools you can use to find what keywords people are using, including Google’s Keyword Suggestion Tool.
If you are serious about finding the perfect keywords, I would recommend using a tool called Wordtracker – www.wordtracker.com. Through a series of simple steps, Wordtracker identifies the best keywords to use on each page of your website. Wordtracker’s suggestions are based on over 300 million keywords and phrases that people have used over the previous 90 days. (In other words, there is no “guessing” when you use Wordtracker. Everything is based on the keywords millions of people have actually typed into search engines.)
Best of all, their competitive analysis tool enables you to find those “best keywords” – the ones your potential customers use, but which your competitors don’t know about.
Once you have identified the best keywords, you can either run a pay per click marketing campaign or optimize your website for search engines.
Pay per click
Pay per click advertising is when an advertiser (you) pays for each qualified click that sends a search engine user to your web page. PPC requires you to bid on keywords or phrases that relate to your business. The best known pay per click services are Google AdWords and Overture. Generally you can bid from as little as a few cents per visitor. However, the more you bid the higher up in the search engine your advertisement will appear. Pay per click is a great way to deliver targeted and qualified visitors to your website at a very reasonable price.
It is a good idea to experiment with different PPC search engines to find the one that works best for you. In addition, you will need to spend time testing your keywords and ads.
Search Engine Optimization
Search engines prefer to list sites that contain good content. In order to rank high you need to create a website that has maximum content and which uses lots of relevant keywords to your service and products.
Once you decide on the keywords, use them in
- Your website’s domain name
- The title of your page – This is displayed in the top bar of your browser window
- The heading of your home page
- The first paragraph of your home page
- Meta tags – Keywords, page title, description
- Titles of your graphics
- Alternative (Alt) tags – These appear in place of images when the browser preferences are set for text only.
Whilst it is important to use keywords as much as possible, it is also important you use them only if they are relevant and do not sound awkward. If you spam your keywords you may be penalized or even banned by some search engines.
Another important thing to consider when trying to optimize your website for search engines is to have as many relevant links pointing back to your website from other complementary sites. This can be done through link exchanges or by writing articles/posts and submitting them to article directories or forums. Ensure you include your domain name at the end of each article/post.
If this all seems too overwhelming, you can employ the services of a Search engine optimization company, who will make your website’s content more search engine friendly.
Please remember, having your website listed at the top of the search engines is not the only way to promote your website. There are lots of other ways you can get visitors to your site for little or no money.

One hour traffic system with Pay Per Click (PPC) advertising The Scientific Approach
By Koz Khosravani in Featured
What do an empty shopping mall and your brand new website have in common? If you guessed “zero traffic” then you are correct! Your website may have the most stunning design in the world, you may have the hottest product or service on the market, but without traffic you’re going to make just as much as that empty mall: NOTHING. In order to jump start your marketing efforts without waiting for Google and the other search engines to rank your website, you need a secret weapon: pay per click marketing. Pay per click marketing allows you to test your product, service or market conditions in real time. This will save you from spending countless hours of work on campaigns that were never going to be profitable, quickly find ones that will be, and start profiting literally hours after launch.

Beginner’s Guide on Social Media
By Pilar Torres Wahlberg in Featured
Social media has been practiced now as a means for small business to establish their brands online without having to spend much. Unluckily, many are also fearful on the tasks that lies ahead. You may learn easily or in a difficult way, that depends on how secure you are in using web and technology generally.
You don’t have to apply a full-fledged method immediately though. It takes time to get momentum going. In the meantime, here are some tips you should keep in mind when starting out:
Start Small While Thinking Big
It would be foolhardy to jump into every trend you see without looking into its relevance for your business. Try out a couple of social media sites first and create profiles there. Regularly add friends, fans, and followers by contacting both regular customers and prospects. It is important to update your profile regularly with new content and fresh information. If you see results from the first few endeavors, it is time to expand your social media coverage.
Place a Widget on Your Blog
One of the best ways to get a solid following is to make it easy for people to recommend your site and service. Widgets provide both of those. Get notice to those popular social media sites like Facebook, Twitter, and Digg among others.
Test the Effectiveness of Widgets
Different audiences will have varying response and characteristics. For example, there are blogs that may have lots of Facebook fans but receive barely any recommendations on Digg. Just as some blogs may get many Retweets but doesn’t make an impact at all. Identify which tools should be kept and which tools to drop in your blog.
Don’t Go for the Hard-Sell
It might be tempting to bombard your followers with offers, discounts, and marketing materials on a daily basis but this tactic hardly ever works. People appreciate exclusive offers now and then. But if they think that they are forced too hard by your company to be able to get sales, they will not really like it. It might be more helpful to provide industry news articles and reports. Answering their questions and concerns is also important.
Look at the Strategy of Others
Are you wondering why a certain company is getting so many regular followers? If so, look at their social media strategy. Through this, you can be able to dig up their secrets, the tool they are using and how were they able to establish a strong following.
This article was created by Pickaweb. Take a look at our Free Jargon Free Web Marketing Strategy videos aimed at beginners. Check out our Professional Website Hosting Services website. How to Use Strong Keywords
By Brad Hess in Featured
Of all the important parts of creating excellent content, using strong, keyword-rich content is among the most important. Keywords, links and site visits help searchers find your content and website. Without strong keywords your potential visitors won’t find you. If you are not using the same keywords in your content and meta tags that searchers use when they begin their search in Google, Bing, or other search engines, your site will not show up in the search results.
1. Keyword Research
Do some research to find out which keywords will best fit your content. First you need to realize that not all, if any, of your customers are familiar with industry jargon so create a broader list of keywords that your customers might be searching with. After you have created this list, run those keywords through a keyword research tool, such as Google Suggest to find out how many users are searching with those words, how many of those searched convert to sales, etc.
To get some good keyword suggestions, visit https://adwords.google.com and click on their link to get keyword ideas. From this page you can enter an industry phrase or your company website to get some good suggestions for keywords to use. The results also list the statistics of how many times each keyword is searched for every month, and other local statistics to help you determine which keywords will theoretically be the best to use as your tags.
2. Create Content Based on Keywords
After you have discovered the strongest keywords, create content about those keywords. You want to make sure that this is quality content but keep the topic centered around the specific keywords that you have chosen. You don’t have to use all of your keywords in one blog or article but try to use as many related keywords as possible.
3. Edit Content for Over-Use of Keywords
No one will read your content if it doesn’t make sense. Be sure to review your content to ensure its overall quality. Over-using keywords will make your content hard to understand. Above all, ensure quality for your readers and create something that they would like to read rather than something that only fits your purposes. In addition, if you over-use keywords in your document, the search engines will flag your content as potential abuse and not give you a high rating in search results.
4. Meta-Tags
Using Meta tags in your blogs, articles and press releases is basic and still important. This will help search engines find your relevant topics more quickly. Many blogs allow you to sort each blog into a general category of other similar blogs but using meta-tags is where you will really score points with search engines. Include all appropriate keywords in the Meta tags to ensure search engines will find your content and provide your content in the search engine results.
5. Good Titles
How well does your title relate to your content? Make sure that your title is directly related to your content. Use relevant keywords in your title as well. Search engines give more weight to titles than other content in your article. The title is also the first thing your potential visitors and readers will see in the search engine results so make sure it is enticing and relevant to their search.
Excellent Keywords are essential to future link-building and generating traffic to your website to increase your search engine rankings. Be very selective and use the most appropriate keywords for your content. Be sure to research relevant keywords and follow all of the steps to appropriately use strong keywords. Just because you create content doesn’t mean that people will come read it. Make it enticing and relevant to your reader.
