Submitting Websites to Search Engines
By John Beaumont in Featured
While there are many ways to get your website noticed arguably submitting your website to a search engine is the best. What is the best way to get your website to the attention of the Search Engines? The first thing to beware of are companies that promise automatic submission to hundreds of search engines. For the most part these promises are false. Maybe there are companies that can achieve this but to be honest I have yet to find one. Frankly the best way is to submit your website to search engines is to do it yourself or alternatively hire an expert to manually contact search engine companies and/or directories on your behalf. Whatever you do you should refrain from submitting an incomplete website. However, before you start this process you must ensure that your website is finished to a professional standard.
The right keywords, good graphics and certainly relevant content are all important. Take time to get it right and ensure that all the pertinent information is included especially your name and contact information!
However submitting your website to a search engine company will not guarantee that it will be listed immediately or that the ranking (position on site) will be high. There are thousands of new websites completed every day so it could take time for your site to be reviewed.
Please remember to include a site map of your website. This will make crawling by the web robots easier. In fact some search engine companies like Google may not even consider submissions without sitemaps.
So what is a sitemap?
A sitemap is normally one page (although sometimes a group of pages) which lists all or at least most of the pages on your website. Basically you can think of a sitemap as being similar to the index showing the chapters of a book. The reason it is important is that the crawlers can search out the website easier using the site map (index) i.e. they look at the titles of each “chapter” of your site to get the general “feel”. This enables them to categorise your site correctly. Please see the separate report on this subject.
I mentioned above that it is not advisable to use companies that promote automatic submission of your website to search engines. However that doesn’t mean that you should ignore the many online companies that do provide search engine submission services. There are software packages available that enable you to do your own submissions or if you want professional help then this is available on line too. Just avoid the” automatic” promotions.
There are thousands of search engine and directory companies to which you can submit your website including some of the best known like Google and Yahoo. Just do a search on the web.
So my advice is to make sure that your website is submitted to as many search engines as possible. Bear in mind though that a poor website can do damage to your image/brand so ensure that you do due diligence before submitting. Take your time, learn as much as you can first then send your professional site for all to see and begin your journey to success.
You CAN do it To YOUR Success

Free Long Tail Keyword Research Tools
By Thomas Christopher in Featured
Long tail keyword research tools are essential for small web businesses. You must put together collections of micro niches, each identified by a long tail keyword. You need to do long tail keyword research to find those niches of low competition keywords.
You need to find a large number of keywords, the number of searches for them per day or month, and the amount of competition for the keywords. The competition, at minimum, consists of all those web pages containing the keyword. More detailed information would include the number of pages optimized for the keyword. You can get all this information for free on the web, from Google; although, there is software available that automates the process for you.
How to Do Local Search Marketing
By Jeffrey Taylor in Featured
Many small business owners are just becoming aware of a powerful and free way to get their business in front of thousands of local customers using what is known as local search marketing.
You see, over the past several years the big 3 search engines have become aware that more and more people are using local identifiers in their search for products and services. In view of the fact that search engines rely on relevant results in order to survive, they have taken serious action.
Google, Yahoo, and Bing have all added local search results to their results pages and have allowed small business owners to add their listing for free.
How important are local results to the search engines? Well, just the fact that they place the local results at the top of their results indicates that they take it very seriously.
Here are 2 important reasons you need to take local search marketing seriously:
- Most people searching for a business in your local area are ready to act. This means if your listing does not show up on that persons local search you are kissing their business goodbye and driving them to your competition.
- You can reach Mobile searchers. Local listings display on cell phones and mobile search is exploding as more people are using smart phones to find local businesses.
Setting up your Local Search Listings.
Ok, where do you start?
The first place you need to go is Google Local. You will have to set up a free Google account and it may be a good idea to grab a free Gmail account to use as your email address for all your listings.
Your business may already be listed in Google results because they pull information from a lot of local directories like Yellowpages.com. The key here is to claim your business listing and optimize it to fit the right keywords, city, state, zip code, phone number and make sure you are in the right categories.
The description part of your listing is very important. In 25 words you need to describe what you do. It is important to get your most important keywords in there without spamming. Just give the facts and avoid sounding like an advertisement. Avoid phrases like best, most experienced, lowest priced etc…
Google will use your description, phone number and address to determine where you show up when people type in certain search phrases.
Warning! If you do not claim your local business listing you risk what is known as hijacking. This is where someone else claims your listing and changes the phone number, address, and website. Until you claim and verify your business listing it is open game for scammers.
After Google, do the same thing at Yahoo and Bing locals. It is very important to make sure you make your listing information consistent. The address, phone number, and keywords need to be the same. If google sees listings with multiple phone numbers or different addresses it will penalize you.
If you have multiple locations than you need to set up separate listings. Google also looks at the phone number so you should avoid using an 800 number. A PO Box is also a no no.
You must understand that the local search engines are looking for local identifiers to determine where you will show up in their results. It looks at phone numbers, your business description, and your address to help them.
After you have claimed your business in the big 3 local search, it is time to look at your local directories.
It is simple to find the good ones. Go to Google and type in the keywords people are using to find your type of business and check the results on the first page. There is a good chance that several local directories will appear on page one. Go to those directories first and submit your business.
Your goal is to get in as many local directories as possible using consistent information. Many of these directories are visited by Google and you want them to see the same information in every directory.
Many directories allow people to submit reviews about the particular business. Google will use these reviews in your listing, so try to get your best customers to take a few minutes to give you a good review.
Local Search Marketing is a small business owners secret weapon and if you are not currently doing it you are missing a great opportunity to attract new customers. The good news is that most of your competition is probably not aware of local search or are doing it all wrong.
If most of your customers are searching for you online, don’t you think it is a good idea to be there?

5 Reasons to Build Multiple Niche Websites and Leverage Them
By Debbie Everson in Featured
Having a single website allows you to showcase all your services in one place. Imagine having multiple websites, each of which focus on a different service altogether. A single e-commerce website is likely to contain hundreds of pages which describe each product in detail. Having multiple micro websites would allow you to categorize the products and list them in their respective niche website.
In simple terms, multiple niche websites or micro sites support the main website by focusing on the content and driving traffic to the main site. You should build multiple niche sites only if you have the required experience in each niche. You must remember that each micro site requires a lot of time and resources dedicated to it.
You Can Build Multiple Niche Websites In The Following Way:
- Use a different domain name for each micro site.
- Create a sub domain for every niche website.
- Create subfolders within the main website.
Each of the above can be used depending on the resources available to you. But, the best results for organic seo will be achieved by creating a different domain for every niche website. Advantages of Having Independent-Multiple Niche Websites:
- No Fear of Website Downtime. Even if one of the website goes down, all the other micro websites will be live and running. If you have one main website and there is a system downtime, you will lose a lot of traffic and mainly, conversions.
- Increase in Quality Back Links. You can link each of your micro sites to the main website. This will increase the number of good quality backlinks to the main website. Eventually it will lead to higher ranking and more traffic to the main website.
- A Number of Authoritative Websites. If you optimize the micro websites well, over a period of time they will begin to hold well on their own. Such websites go on to become authoritative in their niche. This makes the entire experience of creating micro sites worthwhile and truly enriching.
- You Can Expand Your Online Empire. Multiple niche websites give you a chance to take your business to the next level. Once your micro sites start ranking well in local search engines, you can focus on getting into the top results of other countries.
- You Can Tap Into the Needs of the Visitors. Web Analytics tool plays an important part in understanding the visitors behavior. You can use the web analytics tool to understand the influence of your micro sites in every country. This will enable you to analyze the market of your services in other countries. You can gain important insights and make strategic decisions for your business with this data.
The most successful example of multiple niche sites is that of Google. Google has tightly integrated all its micro websites (e.g. Google AdWords, Google AdSense, Webmasters Tools etc) and turned each of them into an authoritative website.
Building multiple niche websites and maintaining them is not an easy task. With enough time and efforts they bring successful results in the form of lead generation.

Online Profiles Can Make or Break Your Social Networking Success
By Bonnie Jo Davis in Featured
Almost every social networking site offers a feature called a “profile” that allows members to include their picture, a biography, live links to their websites and other detailed information. Most of us have multiple online profiles that are empty or only partially completed. It is this profile that helps other users decide if they want to work with you. Another perk of online profiles is that the live links pointing to your website may impact your search engine ranking.
Choosing a Niche Market According to Niche Market Potential
By Bill Wynne in Featured
You want your business to be successful so you need to make sure that you do not make the mistake of choosing a niche market with no potential. The niche market potential and size is something that you must research. Of course if this is just a hobby blog or site it really does not matter.
Here are some guidelines that I use when determining a niche market.
Personal Interest – There are a number of interests I have but when it comes to being a profitable niche I find out there really is not any money in it. For example if you were interested in “Training an Elephant to Paint” your prospective buyers is going to be a small number of people. I do believe that it is best to choose a niche market that you have interest in since you will spend a lot of time with it, that is, if you want to successful with your website. Create a list of topics that you would like to market in and then apply the rest of the guidelines in this article to determine which is going to be the best niche to market in.
Niche market potential – Naturally you want to sell something that has a lot of people with interest in your niche. To determine this use Google Trends, Adwords and Amazon.com.com. Go to Google Trends and type 5 of your niche ideas into the search box. You will see on the graph which one is the most popular. The niche that appears to be the most popular may not be the niche that you want to get into, the next rule tells us why. Next, navigate to the Google Adwords webpage, go to Google.com, enter your niche in the search box and count how many paid for sponsored listings there are at the top of the search results and the links down the right hand side of the page. Those listings show that people are spending money on your niche which is a good sign that the niche market potential of your niche is really good. Lastly, go to Amazon.com and type in your niche. Are there books written about your niche and products for sale in your nice? If there is nothing then you should think twice about the niche you are thinking about and find something where there are products for sale.
Fad likeliness – This is a topic that I don’t here people talk about. You need to be cautious, regardless of the amount of traffic in that niche or the number of products that it is not just a fad. Having been in the retailing of vitamins and supplements there is something new every quarter and the old stuff sinks into insignificance, for example, bee pollen, deer antler velvet, shark cartilage and others. These supplements are not as common and popular as Vitamin E and other supplements and herbs that are popular and people will always be looking for.
Competition - There are two different schools of thought on how to relate to competition. The ideal would be to find a niche with a lot of traffic but no one seems to be targeting it. Those niches are hard to find, kind of like the black 69 Camaro that has been driven 150 miles and then sat in Grandma’s garage. She lists it in the classifieds not knowing what the value is and you buy it for a song. Apart from the ideal there are the two groups and the first group suggests that you go into a niche market with little competition and you will be able to rank high in the search engines with good keywords. The opposing group believes you should compete in the more competitive niches. The are competitive because there is a greater profit potential. To do this you need to know how to do the best SEO possible. That is something that you will have to determine for yourself. It is true though that to try to rank for a popular prescription drug without Adwords or some black hat SEO methods would be near impossible.
Those are the most important rules that will assist you in finding the best niche with great niche market potential. Take your time to make this decision, don’t rush or you will most likely regret it.
Niche Market Potential is something Bill Wynne understands having made a great passive income from operating a number of niche websites.
How to Use Strong Keywords
By Brad Hess in Featured
Of all the important parts of creating excellent content, using strong, keyword-rich content is among the most important. Keywords, links and site visits help searchers find your content and website. Without strong keywords your potential visitors won’t find you. If you are not using the same keywords in your content and meta tags that searchers use when they begin their search in Google, Bing, or other search engines, your site will not show up in the search results.
1. Keyword Research—Do some research to find out which keywords will best fit your content. First you need to realize that not all, if any, of your customers are familiar with industry jargon so create a broader list of keywords that your customers might be searching with. After you have created this list, run those keywords through a keyword research tool, such as Google Suggest to find out how many users are searching with those words, how many of those searched convert to sales, etc.
To get some good keyword suggestions, visit https://adwords.google.com and click on their link to get keyword ideas. From this page you can enter an industry phrase or your company website to get some good suggestions for keywords to use. The results also list the statistics of how many times each keyword is searched for every month, and other local statistics to help you determine which keywords will theoretically be the best to use as your tags.
2. Create Content Based on Keywords—After you have discovered the strongest keywords, create content about those keywords. You want to make sure that this is quality content but keep the topic centered around the specific keywords that you have chosen. You don’t have to use all of your keywords in one blog or article but try to use as many related keywords as possible.
3. Edit Content for Over-Use of Keywords. No one will read your content if it doesn’t make sense. Be sure to review your content to ensure its overall quality. Over-using keywords will make your content hard to understand. Above all, ensure quality for your readers and create something that they would like to read rather than something that only fits your purposes. In addition, if you over-use keywords in your document, the search engines will flag your content as potential abuse and not give you a high rating in search results.
4. Meta-Tags—Using Meta tags in your blogs, articles and press releases is basic and still important. This will help search engines find your relevant topics more quickly. Many blogs allow you to sort each blog into a general category of other similar blogs but using meta-tags is where you will really score points with search engines. Include all appropriate keywords in the Meta tags to ensure search engines will find your content and provide your content in the search engine results.
5. Good Titles—How well does your title relate to your content? Make sure that your title is directly related to your content. Use relevant keywords in your title as well. Search engines give more weight to titles than other content in your article. The title is also the first thing your potential visitors and readers will see in the search engine results so make sure it is enticing and relevant to their search.
Excellent Keywords are essential to future link-building and generating traffic to your website to increase your search engine rankings. Be very selective and use the most appropriate keywords for your content. Be sure to research relevant keywords and follow all of the steps to appropriately use strong keywords. Just because you create content doesn’t mean that people will come read it. Make it enticing and relevant to your reader.

5 SEO Tips for Retail Websites
By Debbie Everson in Featured
An online retail store contains products from various or niche manufacturers. A retail website can sell anything from toys, books, furniture, bags or perfumes. The best example of a retail website is Amazon, which lets you purchase almost anything under the sun. In order to generate leads, you need to drive quality traffic to the website. Search engine optimization is the most commonly used technique to drive traffic to the website. It is also the technique many webmasters are ignorant about. If misused, your website can get banned in the search engines. Five SEO Tips for Retail Websites
Search Engine Optimization And Quality Content
By Kerry Russell in Featured
The Importance of Quality Content for SEO One of the most common misconceptions is that in order to rank well for SEO you have to have pages and pages of content that are packed with keywords and phrases that relate to your topic. While it is very true that you do need to have a high quality design to your website that does incorporate important keywords, it is not true that you need to pack the website with too many keywords. In fact, quality content is much more important to most website owners anyway. In fact, quality content makes a difference to search engines too.
The one thing you have to realize is that website owners now need to focus on quality content more so than just seo terms. The fact of the matter is, quality content is not just something your readers want and expect to have, but it is also something that the search engines are learning from. Search engines like Google and Yahoo, for example, now have complex software programs that not only provide readers with the right website by using keywords but they also understand language. In fact, these programs are designed to actually keep learning language. If your website is jam packed with useless information but has a great deal of keywords related to your topic, you will not fool these search engines. In most cases, you will see that your seo results are not anywhere near what they could be.
However, many website owners fail to see this and they jam pack the website even more so with keywords believing that they may not have the right information at all. The key, on the other hand, is to write quality content that relates to your readers. In fact, after you have done all of the work to get the reader to your page, the last thing you want to do is to not encourage them to stay there and to perform the action that you want them to! Provide them with valuable information and chances are good they will stick around for the long haul. That is something you most definitely want to happen.
Instead of packing keywords with just basic information, provide quality content. Be sure that you avoid over stuffing your website with keywords. Focus less on density and more on quality content. In the end, that is what matters the most when it comes to improving your websites functionality.

Milestone Tracking with Google Analytics
By Debbie Everson in Featured
Web analytics is a valuable tool for website performance monitoring and measurement. Website owners and administrators prefer to use Google Analytics, in particular, because of its easy-to-use features that simplify website tracking, analysis, reporting, and corrective activities.
Google Analytics has a user-friendly graphical user interface (GUI) that makes it popular among expert and non-expert website operators. A wide range of features — advanced segmentation, e-commerce tracking, analysis tools, and APIs – provide accurate data gathering and reporting.
Why are tools such as Google Analytics important for website performance tracking? In the old days, website owners have no accurate means to gather data and assess the successes or failures of their websites. Google Analytics tracker scripts which are embedded into website pages gather relevant data for each accessed page. This data is interpreted and presented to website owners in varying perspectives, trends or patterns. The resulting data aid website owners in assessing whether traffic generation strategies, marketing campaigns, or whatever business goal they have set, are effectively achieved or not.
Intelligent Data Mining and Analysis
Google Analytics is popular with website owners because it is easy to deploy and is able to gather accurate statistics on website performance. It can generate accurate reports and present it in a way that is understandable to technical and non-technical users.
Depending on the goals of the business, there are several features in Google Analytics that are useful for goals or performance tracking. Here are a few of them:
- Customized segmentation. Website owners can use segmentation to focus on monitoring website data relevant only to the site’s business goals.
- API packs for data manipulation and tracking. The Data Export API allows client applications development that can be integrated into Google Analytics data transformations, while the Tracking API allows for customization of the way the tracker script gathers data.
- Analytic tools. The core strength of Google Analytics comes from the use of statistical methods making use of multiple dimensions, filtering and pivot tables, among others, to mine relevant data.
Performance Monitoring Flexibility
Google Analytics provides customization of data variables useful in aligning monitoring activities with business goals, which are then sent as reports to website owners in aid of decision-making. The bottom line is that only needed data are presented in custom reporting, giving the convenience of browsing only useful data instead of a multitude of unnecessary information.
Performance monitoring is made flexible and can be deployed in any of the following scenarios:
- E-commerce monitoring. It is possible to correlate e-commerce transactions with targeted keywords and marketing campaigns, and measure customer engagement with the site, as well as identify new sources of revenue.
- Multi-channel tracking. It allows tracking not only traditional channel access but also other sources such as mobile phones applications and websites.
- Benchmarking and Goal comparison. Threshold levels can be tracked from sales to conversions, making it possible to assess the current performance of the website.
Using the same infrastructure the supports the Google search engine, Google Analytics assures integrity of the data gathered, as well as the privacy of visitors to the website. Together with its multiple features and ease of implementation, this is one analytic tool that can really support comprehensive and accurate site performance appraisal.
