Make More Sales Using Creative Saleswriting
By Stephen Monday in Featured
Good Web copywriting can easily get visitors to take a specific action such as: buy, opt in, “tweet,” email to a friend, or “like,” the message. Copywriters who utilize creative style writing such as vivid storytelling, or draft high-impact, punchy, word-picture style writing can expect their response rates to such copy go way up.
People do not like to get the perception that they are being “sold.” However, tell them a compelling story in which drama, humor, or other emotional feelings are aroused – and do so in a fashion that is personable, engaging, informative, and interesting – you will receive a whole new level of their interest. They become captivated.
Then, when you have stirred great interest show them how a specific problem arises during the story. Then introduce the solution – this would be your product or service. When they are shown, the obvious benefit the solution provides (in story context) they then “see” how it is exactly what they need. This manner of marketing causes the buyer to “sell” themselves.
History has proven, time and time again – this fashion of getting sales is unsurpassed, it is now, has been, and shall remain to be the preferred method of selling for both buyer and seller alike. It outperforms all other methods of marketing by a vast 10 to 1 ratio.
This style of power-writing is highly effective for online promotions, print ads, as well as commercial television – it works in every sales arena. If you are not using this type of promotional material for whatever product or service you are trying to sell – you are flat missing the boat!
People always love great stories, and this has been a well-documented fact for centuries. There is absolutely no greater “hook” to arouse public interest than a well-crafted story. Whether it be fiction, or non-fiction, story based copy will make the sale.
Most Professional Copywriters understand this and employ creative writing in their promotions. It demonstrates to the reader how the said product or service – is exactly what they need to solve a specific problem they are dealing with.
Better still it strikes a nerve in their “buyer’s resistance,” and easily clears the hurdle to the sale. They have not been “pitched” they have “sold” themselves. They are not only glad they have found the product or service – they are happy to buy it.
You can use good creative copywriting to sell anything under the sun. All it takes is a great storyline, and a compelling writer to bring the words to life. Think about this for a moment sometimes buying can actually be enjoyable if the one doing the buying is properly motivated to make the purchase.
Today’s successful promotions are polished and savvy. Good writers avoid hype and flash presentations because they turn off the average consumer. Creative Copywriters know exactly how to present their messages in a manner that actually appeals to viewers.
The days of selling online using exaggerated over-the-moon promises – have gone the way of the T-Rex. Most people simply will not read it. (Let alone buy it.) It actually undermines site credibility. Take a serious look at your own online promotions.
If they are not making sales and the copy is failing to do the job of earning you money – fire the copy! Chances are the product or services you are offering are of good quality but if the sales message does not employ some of the selling tactics outlined in this article you are not only hurting your business – you are leaving money on the table which another savvy marketer will suck up like a vacuum cleaner.
Billions and billions of dollars of goods are sold every year on the Web, and this figure is destined to rise to over $312 billion by the year 2012. Are you getting your piece of this action? Let a creative Copywriter write your sales page and see what a huge difference this approach makes in your response.
Why do less than ten percent of sales pages make money online while the other ninety percent of sales Websites fail to make a dime? It is simple – look at their copy.

3 Reasons Your Website Marketing Will Grow Your Service Business
By Cathy Goodwin in Featured
Is your website a hard-working marketing partner? Business owners often express surprise when I ask this question. Sometimes they say, “Who cares? I just need a brochure site. My clients come strictly from referrals.”
That statement may have made sense in the 1990s. Today your clients will respond differently. We’re finding that even professionals who work personally with their clients – massage therapists, therapists, dentists – are growing their businesses from the Internet.
The truth is…
Reason #1: Clients choose resources based on your online presence.
A word of mouth referral will be an excellent start. But even when you get a referral from a good friend, don’t you find yourself looking online?
Let’s say your CPA refers you to a real estate lawyer. Before you place a call, you might want to know, “What type of services does he offer? Does he practice in the area where I’m having a problem?”
You probably also want to know, “Will she ‘get’ what I’m about? Will she listen non-judgmentally and become my advocate?”
Any professional website needs to anticipate questions like these and have answers prepared.
Reason #2: You gain several hours a week to do what you enjoy.
As you get successful, you get busier. You still need to maintain a pipeline because your current clients won’t last forever. But you don’t want to invest in marketing actions that drain your energy or bring little return on investment.
When your website does more of the work, you get more time in your life. That’s why a brochure website often is not the answer.
Sales people know they have to qualify their clients. That means they greet each prospect with the question, “Will this person be likely to buy? Can they afford what I offer?” When you buy a car, your sales rep will ask these kinds of questions before investing time on a test drive. You’ll probably need to ask similar questions a lot more tactfully.
– You get to spend less time on the phone with those “free” get-acquainted calls. One of my clients said, “I used to drive around to meet all my prospects in person before they would hire me. After you worked with me to revise my website, I spend less time with get-acquainted calls. My clients feel they know me already.”
– You get to manage expectations. You can say clearly, “I work exclusively with solo-preneurs. I do not work with companies that have employees.” You can announce your requirements for scheduling and appointment cancellations. Clients who feel uncomfortable with these policies usually won’t bother to call.
Reason #3: You create relationships that last a business lifetime.
These days your website needs to reach out to prospects and build relationships over time. Some professionals send ezines – electronic newsletters – to stay in touch with prospects. Regular mailings will keep your name top of mind with your prospects. These days you can build relationships through social media. Most commonly you will need to work with Facebook, Twitter and LinkedIn.
However, your relationship ultimately grows from your website. The goal of your newsletters and social media is to bring prospects to certain places on your website where you demonstrate your expertise.
I’ve found that people sometimes hire me after they’ve been on my list for years. For example one client bought a low-end product, then took one of my workshops and ultimately hired me as a business coach. True, some people hire me right after they visit my site, but you can’t plan for those impulse buys. It’s the relationships that ultimately drive your growth.

What Is An Opt-In Email List?
By Anthony Harris in Featured
Spam, most people who have email addresses hate it. Some don’t care. But spam gets irritating. What is spam you ask? It is an email sent to you by companies you don’t even know of and have nothing to do with you. You are considered spammed if you receive tons of these cheesy advertisements that fill up you bulk email folder. It gets worse. These spam emails keep being sent to you and the thousands of other people that these companies have in their email address list.
If you have an online business, one thing you wouldn’t want to hear is that your advertisements and newsletters are considered as spam. One way to avoid being addressed as a spammer is by creating an opt-in email list. An opt-in email list is a list of email addresses where those who receive your emails have chosen to receive them. Unlike spam, the recipients have a choice, either to receive your newsletters or ezines of not to receive them.
This way, when you send your advertisements, newsletters and the like, your emails wouldn’t be considered spam. If you’re asking what is all the fuss about spam emails? Well, you could be fined a minimum of $500 for sending them. And by creating your own opt-in email list you wouldn’t be risking your business just because you sent advertisements.
Creating your own opt-in email list isn’t as hard as you might think. There are many resources available in the internet to help you create these opt-in email lists. You can’t say you don’t know how since there are many websites who will guide you through the whole process.
The advantage of an opt-in email list is that your recipients have full knowledge that you are sending them your emails. To be sure that they are giving you their own email address is by sending a confirmation letter. This confirmation letter will be confirmed by the user through the email address he/she has sent you.
Be sure that you’re sending you emails to those who have confirmed emails. Also, don’t send your emails to those who have chosen to stop receiving your emails. This may give you a small list but your list will contain only the email addresses of those interested on you products or services and won’t jeopardize your business.
When creating your newsletters and ezines. Be sure that it’s content has information that is valuable to your recipients. It must contain things such as up to date updates on your business. Don’t send them emails which contain exaggerated advertisements.
One thing you should avoid is sending these emails over and over again to the same users. They don’t need multiples of your newsletters. Sending them one newsletter is already enough. They don’t need another email with the exact content as the other email you sent them.
Make your advertisements straight to the point. Show them exactly what they’ll get if they purchase from you. Don’t give them extras that you can’t provide. Don’t send emails like other companies containing things such as an order form. If your recipients want to purchase products and services from you they will go to your site or send you emails.
All these are very helpful guidelines to prevent you from being called a spammer. So start your own opt-in email list now.

New Website from Zero to Hero in 6 Months for Generic Keywords (Google Top Ten) – 4 of 7
By SEO Daddy in Featured
Ok, let’s recap to date what we have covered: basic link building skills and strategy at Local, Regional Level (Wedding Photographer Greenwich, Wedding Photographer London). We have covered reciprocal links, back-links, Blogrolls, Blog commenting, and Directories/Forums.
Now it’s time for the ‘Big Guns’ to come out to play, time to up our game and start our assault on the summit. We want to focus our SEO attention on the generic keyword ‘Wedding Photographer’ and thus gain the kudos of Google Top Ten listings giving us national and international traffic we strive for.
The ‘Big Guns’ in the link arsenal I am going to cover are: Link Management Software, Linking Analysis, Link strategy. Without using the ‘Big Guns’, achieving a Google Top Ten listing is nigh on impossible in my opinion, unless you forgot about that PR5+ domain just hanging around on your web-server not being utilized. And let’s face it, that’s never the case!
Also, I mentioned in Part 2 of this series of articles that Rik Pennington Photography had lost his #No.1 ranking for ‘Wedding Photographer London’ in Google.co.uk. I have addressed the issue and we are back to #No.1 spot! Nice work from the SEO Daddy.
Link Management Software
It’s an absolute must for me as an SEO professional; there are plenty of unscrupulous link exchangers out there. Exchange links with you one day and next week your link has gone from their website trying to get one over on you with a one-way link. Software can mange, monitor and react accordingly and slap ‘no follows’ on or auto-delete Link Dodgers and Link Jackers! Thus, keeping your link strategy streamlined, focused and running at full capacity, increasing the link juice you thirst. Quality link management software can take a lot of the laborious frustrating aspects of link building off your hands and frees up valuable time to get on with more productive and rewarding tasks within the SEO arena. Most have tools to help you find related websites for link exchanges, blogs for commenting on and posting to, also quality directories for listing in. All this can come with detailed PageRank, Alexa, BackLink statistics assisting you to make the right decisions on a link by link basis, strengthening your authority every step of the way.
You are not going to get penalized for using link management software; use it sensibly, with progressive, controlled and targeted link growth in relevant market sectors with diverse link themes. If you want to know more about Link Management Software, contact me and I can let you know what’s out there and what would best suit your online needs.
Linking Analysis
Ok, now we are talking. We need to know how the websites listed in Google’s Top Ten for the term ‘wedding photographer’ got there? Every website has left a forensic trail of its success. You just need the tools and skills to sniff it out. Once on the scent, let a clever application do the hard work for you and all you need to do is analyze the data. Strategize according and marry the results with your developing assault plan for conquering the summit. A crew of German chaps has recently released SEOprofiler and they have hit the nail on head with this set of SEO Tools. It’s yet another example of precision German engineering at its best! The strapline ‘Vorsprung Durch Technik’ comes to mind. For our friends over the pond who don’t indulge in foreign linguistics or own an Audi TT, I’ll translate for you. This German phrase is usually translated into English as ‘progress through technology’. A literal translation would be ‘advancement through technology’. There’s no single English word which is an exact English equivalent of ‘vorsprung’; ‘to leap ahead’ comes close and SEOprofiler is definitely a leap ahead of rest.
The boffins from Deutschland have done it again! If you are determined to get your website into Google’s Top Ten then you need to enter the more advanced and complex world of link analysis. I would strongly suggest you look at SEOprofiler. This is a heavy weight web based set of tools that delivers to its clients some of the most in-depth link analysis I have seen out there. But don’t be put off if you’re a beginner. It’s easy to use, very informative and will enlighten you as to the link status of your website and the in-depth status of your competitors for a keyword phrase. All in all, a remarkable set of tools and up there in the SEO Software market. A must if you are serious about outranking your competitors on Google. I wouldn’t have achieved Rik Pennington’s Google page one ranking without referencing with this set of SEO tools.
Link strategy
Based on the conclusions gained from the link analysis of competitors in Google’s Top ten for the keyword we are homing in on, we now have all the knowledge to stage an assault and gain a Google Top Ten listing for a generic keyword, the Holy Grail for most SEO professionals. Generic keywords are big traffic drivers and the kudos that goes with listing at the top Google’s organic ranking mountain means oodles of traffic. Oodles of traffic means throwing everyman and his dog into the top of the hopper and seeing what comes out. Admittedly there are plenty of discards but this is of no consequence to our overall strategy. Profile is everything; we have done local and regional domination. But we need the national generic listings to increase the market penetration and cement our authority as one of the top dogs in our market. If they don’t find you, you can’t do business with them. Simple SEO marketing philosophy – blanket assault on Google page one listings and cherry pick the jobs you want, taking the cream of crop!
So, we have done all of the above, the plans in place, the strategy is robust, aspects of the plan are already operational and yielding results. We have established our authority as a player within our market sector (neighborhood), now it’s time to cement it. We now need more, many more back links, continuing to add to our ever bulging link pot. We are looking for a constant flow of new quality links. How are we going to get them? Well, I’ll tell you next time.
Next week we will cover Article Submission, Anonymous Blog Post Publication, the murky word of Copy Spinning, Rewrite Percentages and controlled Article propagation across the global network.
Till next time, peeps……
Thanks for reading.

My Top 10 Most Useful Free Marketing Tools Of 2010

At the end of the year, everyone is making lists and I thought it would be helpful if I gave you my most useful marketing tools of 2010. All of these are free and there’s no reason why these tools can’t also help your website or your online marketing.
While they are geared towards marketing, they can also be used for getting traffic to any website. I also believe it is the “USE” of “ALL” of these tools in combination which has helped me succeed online.
So here, in no particular order, are my most useful free marketing tools of 2010:
This invaluable SEO tool will give you vital stats about your own site and those of your competitors. I use this extensively to check out my linking partners and how I can better compete with my competition. Besides checking the traffic ranking, Google indexed pages, age of site… the most important stats for me is the SEMRush numbers, these will roughly tell you the worth of the monthly keyword traffic a site is receiving. Very helpful.
New Auto Blog Rules
By Michel Maling in Featured
Many avid bloggers who have been blogging for years have realized that auto blogging isn’t as easy as it used to be. A couple of years ago one would get a blog up and running in about twenty minutes, put it out on the internet with content automatically being fed into it, and then just wait for the sales to start rolling in.
If you had to treat your blogging business like that today, you wouldn’t get very far. First, you won’t rank in the search engines due to duplicate content. The other reason you could get penalized is because your automated content could be spun, thus resulting in content that doesn’t make much sense to the reader.
Auto blogging used to be totally reliant on search engine optimization, and not on making quality blogs that people would want to visit. Remember that in blogging, the only way to get a good following is to have content that humans enjoy reading. In this way the search engines will also rank you higher, as you will be getting more visitors and your content is unique to your own blog.
You may wonder how it is possible to have an auto blogging business, but manage to keep it non spammy, and automatically getting updated with quality content. Bloggers now know that auto blogging still works well, but the rules have changed and if you want a successful auto logging business here are a few of the musts that you will need to implement into your blogging business. Some of these strategies take more time, but the results will be well worth it.
1. Proper Research
Doing proper research before opening your new blog is essential. You need to establish what niches are profitable, find keywords that are not to competitive and make sure that there are products available for your blog to promote. Without doing this initial phase properly, your blog will just get lost somewhere out there on the world wide web, and you will be lucky if anybody sees it at all in the search engines.
2. Proper Setup
When setting up a new blog, how you set it up makes all the difference to how your blog is going to perform in the long run. To make your blog search engine friendly, you need to know what pluggins to use and what type of themes will work best for your blog. This is the part that takes the most time, but is a step that should never be rushed or left out if you want to ensure the long term success of your blog.
3. Original Content
Yes, initially you will need to write some original content to get your blog going. After this there are many tools that you can use in order to get quality readable content and products added to your blog on auto pilot. I use auto blog buddy to ensure that my blogs are fed with high class quality content on a daily basis. The best thing here is that the content is reader friendly and optimized according to your instructions.
4. Getting Your Blog Seen
If you have done the first three steps correctly, the search engines will do most of the work for you here. You may need to tweak this a bit in the beginning to make sure that your blog gets off on the right footing, but after the initial stages, you will start getting traffic from the search engines, providing you have been thorough in your setup.
A successful blog will make $40 or more every month, so it is well worth the effort to make sure you know all the rules to setting up your auto blogging business.

How to Create a Successful E-commerce Website – A SPN Exclusive Article
By Gobala Krishnan in Featured
Starting an e-commerce business today is easier than it has ever been. There has never been such an abundance of tools, software, experts and resources to teach you exactly what to do and how to do it.
A few years ago, it would cost you an arm and a leg just to get your e-commerce site up. Today however, we have a multitude of shopping cart software to choose from.
In 2001 when I first started selling online, starting an e-commerce business may have seemed like a risky thing to do. Today you hear tons of success stories in newspapers and online media.
Nevertheless, many newbies still make some fundamental mistakes when starting their first ecommerce site. This article highlights three key factors in being successful at e-commerce.
Choose a Moderately Sized, Profitable Niche Market
You cannot, and should not, try to be the next Amazon. Selling everything under the sun is not easy, cheap, or really necessary. It took Amazon millions of dollars and years of operations to finally achieve a profit. Can you afford to do the same?
I’ve always advised my students to “go niche” – in other words, to choose a well-defined and targeted niche market. However, choose a niche market that is too small is a mistake as well.
You’ve probably read e-books that tell you to explore obscure niche markets. It’s true that in such markets it’s easier to make money since there is less competition. However, fewer competitors can also mean less profit on the table, and a smaller audience. What good is it if you can completely dominate an obscure niche market, yet cannot make enough money from it to sustain at least a full-time income?
It makes perfect sense when you think about it! If there was a lot of profit to be made, there would be existing competition to some extent. You’ll
Ideally, your target market should be not too broad yet not too narrow. Look for potential growth in your market as well. You don’t want to end up serving a shrinking market.
Don’t Spend Too Much Time on Software
The right software will make or break your new e-commerce venture. However, some marketers prefer to go for open source systems just because it’s free. What they fail to consider however is that almost any kind of open source software is never a finished product. Unless you want it to look like every other site out there using the same system, you’ll need to work on it.
That’s when most people realize the real hidden cost of open source software – your time! If you choose open source software, remember that it’s still going to cost money and time to develop it into something you want. More often than not, it will only steer you away from your main goal of building a working site fast.
That’s why I always recommend new marketers to go for ready-made e-commerce shopping cart systems that are web-based. This will save you lots of time. The time you save can easily be used to market your site and get more traffic.
Web-based e-commerce systems usually also come with tons of different web templates you can choose from. This helps you to get the design you want for your store. Modifying the templates a little will make your site even more unique.
Paid software also comes with accessible support, whereas open-source programs don’t. Having someone you can turn to when things don;t go exactly as planned is extremely valuable. With open source software, you’ll find yourself begging for help and attention at support forums.
Deal With Back-end Issues As Quickly As Possible
Having an e-commerce store is just one part of a successful e-commerce business. There’s tons of other back-end stuff you need to take care of too. For example, shipping and delivery is a major concern.
A successful e-commerce business always has products in stock and always ships fast. Most successful online retailers has spent tons of time, money and planning to delicately put together an effective stocking, delivery and customer support system. How you need to develop your back-end processes really depends on your market, the size of your company and your level of experience.
However, I strongly believe that if you can identify bottlenecks in your processes and make a genuine effort to address them, you should be able to get a smooth start in your e-commerce venture.
Your cash flow and line of credit is another massive concern, although no guru will teach you about these things in an e-book or seminar. It’s something that you will learn to understand and master with time. When you’re starting out however, a little caution will go a long way. Keep everything simple, and avoid spending on expensive hardware or software.
After all, the kind of hardware and software you really need is pretty cheap nowadays. You can get dedicated servers, help desk systems, merchant accounts and other related tools for under a hundred dollars monthly. Warehouse or storage space is completely redundant if you can find a drop shipper to supply the products and make the actual shipment to your customers.
Take some time to carefully design and test your back end processes. You simply cannot afford to take these things for granted. If you do, you may end up with a lot of grumpy customers and that’s never a good thing for your brand or profitability in the long run.

Presenting Information Well, Too Difficult for Web Developers? A SPN Exclusive Article
By Patrick OBrien in Featured
We all know that a well thought out site with clear layout and navigation makes the whole user experience far more pleasing for a visitor and encourages repeat and longer visits. So why then, when it comes to presenting numerical information do the majority of web developers get this so wrong?
Web site design has gone through many evolutions with techniques coming and going. Most of this evolution has revolved around page layout and site navigation, today a modern site does indeed present a clear and easy experience for the visitor. However, one area that seems to have been neglected is the display of numerical information. Perhaps this is due, in part, to that fact that not every site has numerical data to display or perhaps web designers are so focused on ‘look and feel’ that they neglect the clarity of information.
Getting visitors to a site is quite a task as we all know. So when we get them there we want them stay and understand the content. If that content involves numerical data then isn’t it worth making a little extra effort to present that data in a format that is both pleasing to the eye and enticing. So how do we do that? Well when you start to think about it, it really isn’t any different to the way we approach general site design. Today we wouldn’t dream of just chucking all the content at random on a page and expecting the visitor to make sense of it. So rather than just take the raw numbers and throw them into a table let’s give it a little thought. Think about what the data could be saying to user and then start to break it down into headline numbers and paragraphs as you would do with text information.
Numerical data can usually be quite easily segmented and totaled. Summing sections of data provide headline attention grabbing numbers, whilst segmenting provides the opportunity to paragraph the data making far more information easily accessible and far more interesting for the viewer. For example, let’s suppose we have a whole series of sales data and let’s imagine our organization sells four products. Our raw data is a set of individual sales numbers. Simply placing this data in one big table, although displaying all the data, does not really provide very much information. For instance a normal user would have no idea which product is most popular or whether there are any trends or seasonal variations. With a little thought and effort we can do much better, let’s start by segmenting our sales figures by month and then within each month segment further by product. For each product / month cell we have two numbers, the total value of sales and the number of sales. Providing this in just a simple table will be far more meaningful than our original raw data set. The user can now begin to see which product is performing well and also whether any particular time of year is good or bad. However we can still do much better.
Even at this level of segmentation we are still making the viewer work to see the story contained within the data. Now that we have the data sensibly segmented it becomes a fairly easy task to display in graphical format. Done well graphs are extremely powerful because they both present information in a visual format and add dimension to the data. Relationships between adjacent data and trends across the range are made crystal clear. Choosing the correct chart style is key for making this work really well. Should we use pie charts, bar graphs, line graphs and something more exotic. In our sales data example remember we are looking to provide some attention grabbing headline followed by a paragraph of interesting detail. A viewer of our information may first be most interested in which of our products is the best performing. Although a bar graph of total sales for each product would provide this information, a pie chart representing the product totals would be more attention grabbing. So for our headline let’s provide the user with a pie chart of total sales. Now all we need to do is provide the paragraph, well the choice with our example data is a multi-series vertical bar chart. We have a series of data for each product segmented by month. Along the x-axis we will plot month and the y-axis will represent value of sales. Each month on the graph will contain 3 bars, one for each product. This simple approach provides the viewer with a great deal of information in one pleasing view. The bar chart tells the complete sales story for each of our products showing both trends and easy visual comparisons.
That’s all well and good, I hear you say, but web pages don’t lend themselves to easily generating graphical display. Well that’s true but there are today a wide variety of software packages that have specifically been designed to plugin to web sites and make the task of turning the numbers into eye catching, story telling graphs easy for the web designer. Generally you set a few options, like colors and then simply provide the segmented data to the software. At page view time your visitor is presented with the graph image.
In summary then, with a little thought and a small amount of effort the numbers can really be brought alive and provide a compelling story for visitors.
