Article Marketing: 7 Keys To A Profit-Pulling Title
By Jim Edwards in Featured
People crave bite-sized pieces of information online in the form of articles so they can quickly research and decide which topics to investigate further. Truth is, anyone can use article marketing to promote just about anything because article marketing rates as one of the most effective ways to generate traffic online. However, the pivotal key to effective article marketing, the article title, usually receives the least attention. This lack of thought and attention seriously undermines the otherwise great results people could have gotten through article marketing with just a little more effort. The following 7 keys should help every level of article marketer improve their titles, and therefore, massively improve their results.
Key # 1: The Article Title Is The Single Most Important Part
The fact is, a great title combined with an average article will outperform a bad title and great article! In the end, your title serves as the headline for the article, just like the headline for a sales page or advertisement. Your title grabs attention and lets people know the article is relevant to their needs and they should stop and read it right now.
Key # 2: Titles Should Contain The Main Keyword Phrase
You should know the #1 keyword phrases your audience searches for online and every article you write should center around one of those main keyword phrases. Also, every article title should contain one of those main keyword phrases. Why? Because it helps automated software that trolls for articles to find you and add you to content sites. It also helps you show up in the search engines when people search for that particular phrase. Most importantly, it lets people know instantly that your article is relevant and they should read it right now.
Key # 3: Titles Should Create Curiosity
A great headline gets people to say “Hmmm. That’s interesting. I wonder what that’s all about. Is there something good in there for me?” Remember: the #1 purpose of a headline is to get people to stop and read the first sentence of the article. Curiosity rates as the #1, proven way to get people to stop, drop what they’re doing, and start reading your article.
Key # 4: Titles Should Evoke Emotion
Emotion in the headline creates the urgency to push people into actually reading the article itself. Make people mad. Make them sad. Make them laugh. Make them afraid. But whatever you do, don’t bore them! Emotional involvement is the key to getting the most people to feel the need to read your article once you arouse their curiosity. Creating an emotional reaction starts with your article title.
Key # 5: Titles Make An Immediate Promise
“5 Specific Ways To Get Your House Sold Without an Agent” vs. “General House Selling Tips.” Which is more compelling?
The one that makes a specific, immediate promise for the results or information the reader wants. Make a promise of immediate results and specific information your target audience can use. Offer an inside “scoop” they wont’ find anywhere else in the form of secret tips or tricks. If you followed the first 5 keys in this article, this should actually be one of the easiest parts (making a promise). Just tell them you have what they want and all they need to do is read the article.
Key # 6: Titles Continue A Conversation
Everyone, especially online, has a conversation going on in their head at any given moment. It may be organized or disjointed, but everyone’s headed in a certain direction.
When they look for information, they want the information they want – not what you think they should want. That means using the words, phrases, and questions they use so they stop and say “Yeah! That’s what I’m looking for!”
Example: Someone wonders “How can I get my house sold without an agent and save the commission?” When they see article titles like “Thinking of Selling Without and Agent?” or “How To Sell Without An Agent” or “5 Specific Tips For Selling Without an Agent” – they pay attention.
Article titles like “FSBO Tips” or “Home Selling Advice” will not continue that conversation nearly as well in the minds of potential readers.
Key # 7: Titles Should Lead To A Next Step
People aren’t stupid. They know you can’t solve all their problems in one article. They also realize (consciously or subconsciously) that your article is probably just one stepping stone along a path they must follow to reach their final goal. So ask yourself, “What’s the next logical step they should take after this article?”
Knowing that next step before you even write the article will help you lead them from the article title, through the body of the article, all the way to the resource box.
Knowing the “big picture” turns your article into one giant slippery slope that shoots the readers straight into your list and sales funnel with a win-win proposition!

Succeeding with Virtual Business Today
By Karl Walinskas in Featured
NOT YOUR FATHER’S BUSINESS MODEL
Big changes are afoot in how America works today. The financial threats of lower-priced competition from overseas, the improved effectiveness of a virtual business model and a fresh American desire for better quality of life have caused the radical work shift. Virtual business, remote work, telework, distributed work, virtual staff like executive assistants, virtual teams–call them what you wish–are now part of the corporate lexicon.
I spoke with Alan Blume, author of “Your Virtual Success: Finding Profitability in an Online World.” Alan’s take is that virtual work is transforming the very nature of cities and urban centers, how we live and aggregate as people. With more work being performed remotely, American cities are quickly reverting to cultural event centers with more entertainment than business. Very simply, there is just no need to be “at the office” like we were in the past.
Just look at the situation in recent years with commercial office space and you’ll quickly understand. Non-conforming businesses won’t be successful attracting top talent and ultimately won’t survive fiscally, and may end up like Blockbuster Video before long. Alan brings out more points and subtleties in his video interview.
SMALL BUSINESS DONE VIRTUALLY
If you operate a virtual business like I do, or are thinking about one, Your Virtual Success is a resource you should pick up. It provides an easy to read, yet content-filled set of actions for you to take to…
* Transition to a virtual business from your day job
* Establish a virtual business quickly
* Develop niche branding and image
* Sell and market your business virtually
* Qualify and hire virtual talent–from anywhere!
* Test and expand your business
The author Alan Blume “eats his own dog food” as he told me once, in that all the recipes in this book he uses for his own business. I was most fascinated by some of the non-traditional sources to find freelance talent; for example, Craigslist. My notion of Craigslist was a place where killers, thugs and rip-off artists hung out to prey on naive people. There’s a lot of talent on Craigslist too, which I found out. I located my graphic designer for this business’ logo and discovered my web designer via carefully specified postings on Craigslist. Plenty of other freelance sites exist as well like Odesk and Elance.
There are always diamonds amongst the bad seed that exists online, and the instructions in the staffing chapter of how to separate the good from the bad are by themselves worth reading this book.
There are many tools in this work for small business owners to think about, whether it’s the use of online video that you can now promote your business much more affordably than ever before, or ways to test new products and services and adapt to the feedback you receive on the fly, modifying as you go. So many things exist today for you to take advantage of in order to compete with larger companies and lower-priced competitors, and you may soon be forced to use them or perish as a business.
When you read a book like this, you begin thinking about work differently. The author tells his Tale of Two Nephews and allows the reader decide which version of success he’d like to have; the overworked, overstressed 9 to 7er or the guy doing business in his bathrobe. When I read how the author runs his own business I was green with envy, because I’m not there yet, but I am striving. This book has many of the same characteristics as the “Four Hour Work Week” by Tim Ferris, without the focus on world travel and focused a little more on creating your own virtual venture from a practical standpoint.
You can get through this book in one sitting, but you should circle back with a highlighter or ball point pen to some of the key sections and references Alan gives.
Bookmark the appendix Rolling Pipeline Report, Prospect Scorecard and Sample Order Confirmations as documents that can form a basis for tracking and operating your virtual business.

Video Marketing 5 Steps For Beginners
By Linda Credit in Featured
I have taken the time to write this article as a tool for beginners in the Video Marketing arena. This article is for newbies, and those who need some good solid tips on the do’s and don’ts of video marketing. Videos are a great way of promoting your online business product or service. They can be stored on your social networking sites such as Facebook, Twitter and MySpace, but don’t clutter your profiles on these sites with too many videos. This is a relatively inexpensive means of marketing to the massive.
If done properly it can get the message across very quickly and effectively. As the saying goes, “A picture is worth a 1000 words”.
Videos allow viewers to post comments and feedback to your video. This is a great way of accessing whether or not it’s being viewed favorably by your viewers. If the comments aren’t favorable, then simply take it down and replace it with another one. It is simply a trial and error process until you become proficient with it.
Probably the #1 video submission site for online business opportunities is YouTube and it is FREE. This site is the #3 most visited site on the internet. This way, your marketing efforts can reach millions very fast. A successful video is vital for increasing traffic to your website. However, one poorly made, that’s not very informative, won’t get you the results you are seeking.
How To Get Started – The first thing you must do before starting a video is prepare. You need to write out exactly what you want to communicate to your viewers. There is no point in making it up as you go because the quality will be less than desirable. It must be made clear what you are trying to communicate. Also, keep your videos short and to the point. Try to keep them to 5 minutes or less. Remember people attention span is not very long. Most people will not look at a video for more than 5 minutes unless the content is out of this world. Therefore, practice getting your point across quickly and effectively.
Set Your Goal - Your goal is to do a content filled video in less than 5 minutes. And, make sure the viewers know exactly what you are trying to communicate to them and there is no misunderstanding. If there is, than it would be worthless to you. Make sure you have put your web link at the end along with all you contact information.
Tools Needed – It’s very important that you have the proper equipment necessary to make a video. There is not need to spend a lot of money on these tools. A webcam and a microphone will suffice. If you don’t want to appear in your own video then use still pictures relating to your online business. You can Google images of your liking on the internet and use a voice over for them.
How To Brand Yourself – The video that is produced at the end of the day is what is going to brand you and your product or service. Successful branding is what is going to make people trust you and eventually purchase from you or join your business.
Keywords Are King – One last thing that many people overlook is picking your keywords. Your keywords and tags are as important as the video, as it is the keywords that will help people find your video. Therefore, do not rush in selecting them. I would actually recommend that you do some keyword research such as, using Google’s keyword/adwords guide.
In summary, a successful video I believe should be informative, entertaining and short, to the point.

Diversify Your Web Business Profits or Else!
By Jim Daniels in Featured
When I first started out online I decided I wanted to help people unravel the mystery starting a business online. I did that by offering inexpensive manuals and books and it paid off well for me. Gradually I added other income streams to compliment those profits. I suggest all small and home businesses online have at least 4-5 different income generating strategies.
Today I’ll show you my top six so you can copy them if you want.
As I mentioned, in my early days online I pretty much derived all my income from my number one strategy….
1. Info-product Marketing
Marketing your own info-products is a solid model that works online. While I really like this model, I’ll be the first to admit it is time consuming writing books and creating software. Not to mention the fact that they become outdated rather quickly in this arena. But the profits are there if you create solid products that help people save time or money. I’ll probably never get away from info-product creation completely, but over the years, I’ve found many other income generating strategies to be less time consuming and just as lucrative…
2. Affiliate Marketing
I soon figured out how much work it was creating my own training material, and realized I could only come up with one or two products a year at the most. That’s when I decided I needed to broaden my product line via an easier method. Affiliate marketing fit the bill perfectly. I simply went out searching for other solid books and software products in my niche and tried them out. Then I would tell my readers about the best products. Each sale that was made I’d earn a commission.
I still use this method today and despite how crowded this niche has become over the last decade, it still works pretty well. The key is to weed out the junk by personally reviewing each and every product or service you recommend.
In fact, if you use this technique in other, less crowded niches you’ll likely find that it’s one of the easier ways to generate income online. Of course it helps if you have a subscriber list. If you don’t I suggest you start growing your own right away if you want to take full advantage of affiliate marketing.
3. Selling Advertising
The next income strategy I implemented was selling advertising in my web based newsletter. Early on I sold classified ads and had up to a dozen or so in each issue.
It was a solid earner but there was a lot of ad juggling involved. I also wasn’t comfortable with having so many classified ads, so I decided to move on to sponsorship ads. That way I could reduce the number of ads per issue to just three and offer more space to each advertiser.
Just recently I’ve added a few other advertising opportunities including banner advertising and even annual advertising plans. It’s important to offer variety to advertisers. If you publish a newsletter or have an opt-in list of your own, you may be surprised at how many people on your list may be interested in reaching you readers.
4. Membership Sites
A few years ago when I noticed info product sales declining and more and more competition coming onto the scene, I decided it was time to try a new model. That’s when I opened my first membership site. At my member site I give away silver memberships to show people my Info-Product Formula. As they sign up I offer them a low cost Gold membership that includes unlimited coaching from me, as well as access to hundreds of training videos and specialized products.
If you have specialized knowledge in any niche, there are people who will be happy to pay a small fee to have access to that knowledge. A membership site is a good way to reward your loyal followers with a low cost option to work with you directly.
5. Private Label Rights
If you’ve created a few products in your business, you may want to consider letting others buy the rights to those products. I know many marketers who make their entire living doing this, as the market is huge for good private label products.I resisted doing this for years but finally decided to open up rights to my products a few days each year at Guru-U.biz. It has been much more popular than I expected, even at $300 per license.
My best advice if you want to do something similar, is to limit the number of people you sell rights to, and make it available only occasionally, to keep that number low. Not only does this give it more value, it keeps competition among resell rights holders to a minimum.
6. Google AdSense
This is an income method I resisted for years, that I have finally begun using. If you’re not familiar with it, AdSense is Google’s ad program for content publishers. To put it in their own words… Google AdSense is a free program that empowers online publishers to earn revenue by displaying relevant ads on a wide variety of online content.
In addition to placing AdSense ads in my web based newsletter, I’ve also starting building informational blogs in different areas of business that interest me, and I’m monetizing the blogs using Adsense. Setting up blogs like that can be done in about an hour, even if you’re like me and have had no experience in blogging before. One niche I’m familiar with that I’ve set up a blog for is Forklift Certification. This is a profession I’ve had experience with in the past and I enjoy writing about it and helping others interested in it. (Yes, I drove a forklift in a warehouse back in the 80′s before there was an Internet – and I loved it!)
Again, I’m monetizing those blogs via AdSense and have plans for even more blogs in a variety of business related niches. This is something just about anyone can do and there are still plenty of great niches that can be monetized.
In closing…
If you’re relying on just one or two income strategies online, you may be short-changing your business. Try plugging in one of the strategies I showed you above. You may be pleasantly surprised at the results.

The Making of a Web Superstar Business
By Jerry Bader in Featured
We live in the age of communication. We are in constant contact with friends, family, and business colleagues. Each new digital device, software solution, or Internet phenomenon creates an opportunity for entrepreneurs to position themselves as the next-big-thing and business executives to establish themselves as marketing mavens, business gurus, or technology boffins.
“In the future everyone will be world famous for 15 minutes.” – Andy Warhol
Superstars & Cultural Influence
Andy Warhol was a graphic genius of course, but as importantly, Warhol was a cultural influencer with an eye for image and an ear for sound bites. It was Warhol who popularized the term “Superstar” which if you think about it in today’s terms is fittingly ironic and incredibly perceptive.
Warhol’s “superstar” reference wasn’t to a Marilyn Monroe or Elizabeth Taylor but rather to Edie Sedgwick, a talent-deficient, troubled, anorexic Twiggy look-a-like socialite. If anyone can be famous, it follows that anyone can be a superstar, and the World Wide Web has spawned an entire society of ‘wanna-be’ Web superstars.
Article Marketing: Does It Work Or Not?
By Steve Shaw in Featured
Are you puzzled when it comes to the success of online article marketing? Do you have a number of contacts who proclaim that it’s injecting life into their websites and others who state it just doesn’t deliver for them?
The purpose of this article is to completely, once and for all, answer the question: Does online article marketing work?
Online article marketing works out for most of the people who carry it out in the correct manner. You do not have to be an SEO mastermind or tech guru to do it. Online article marketing is comparatively simple, and millions of small, everyday business managers utilize it with enormous success as their number one promotional tool for their websites.
But what would cause a person to announce that it didn’t work for their business? By far and away the most frequent reason why a person does not see the results he is looking for is this:
The person doesn’t submit articles consistently enough to see results.
Humans are really predictable — we expect to see a huge payoff for a tiny amount of labor. That’s why we start an exercise program and fail after just a week or two, demoralized because we do not look like a professional athlete yet.
Too often people tend to want immediate results in virtually everything they undertake, and that is why it might be easy for some people to get disheartened when they commence their online article marketing campaigns.
Ok, I want to tell you what you must rationally expect, so that you will be able to keep your determination and energy going until the time when your results kick off.
1 – Initially, you will start to submit just a few articles each month. If you are using automatic submission, about 8 articles is a good number every month for each website that you are marketing.
For the first few months:
* You will not see much change in your website traffic. Of course, there might be a few clicks coming from your initial articles that are being published around the net, and you may well experience a number of large surges of traffic right after a publication, but likely not enough to knock you out, and nowhere near the level of the traffic you might receive with a higher search engine ranking;
* You might not observe any supplementary backlinks showing up for your website in the search engines just yet;
* You may not come across any heartening improvement to your site’s search engine ranking for any of your keyword terms.
Sounds comforting, does it not? That is the reason it’s so helpful to be forewarned and forearmed — the initial few months of your campaign is when you are revving things up, but you will not see a great deal of proof of your article marketing campaigns advancement.
2 – You have to stick at it and continue your article marketing campaign. After those first few months of activity, you should start to notice an onrush of backlinks show up for your site in the search engines. These are the very links that you have been building up over the
preceding few months. They do not show up immediately — it takes time for Google to calculate them.
You also may well notice your PageRank start to creep up either before or after your backlinks show up.
In addition, if you are making use of keywords in your submissions, you might start seeing your website’s primary page jump up the search engine rankings. (In order for you to observe your ongoing progress, it is a good idea to keep a note of your ranking, PageRank and backlinks for your keyword terms ahead of you starting marketing with articles.)
3 – Heartened by your opening triumph, you submit articles steadily, and just a little at a time, in fits and spurts and occasionally massive leaps, your website will scale the search engine rankings.
Your major “payday” is improving traffic from searches people do on Google, Yahoo, etc. In fact, this is the main objective of online article marketing – to obtain a higher Google ranking so that you are able to make hay with the truckload of traffic that a very high search engine ranking brings. The time this process will take is dependent on your own particular niche and just how competitive it happens to be.
Now you understand exactly what many other business owner managers are doing to get amazing changes to their website traffic. So, go on and make marketing with articles work for you!

9 Essential WordPress SEO Plugins – A SPN Exclusive Article
By Cathy Henry in Featured
WordPress is one of the most powerful web design tools anyone can use when building their websites. No longer just a blogging platform, it has been developed into a fully functional CMS that is far more flexible, user-friendly than most other Content Management Systems.
The reason I love WordPress so much is because it is highly customizable. There are hundreds of thousands of plugins and themes available that allow me to create a website with any features I could ever want. Through the use of plugins and themes I cannot only build simple blogs, I can also develop fully functional websites with shopping carts to sell products and services or even create membership sites and community portals.
The biggest advantage to using WordPress is being able to automate almost all of the on-page SEO tasks and even some of the off-page tasks. Through the use of plugins, I am able to get my websites indexed in Google quickly, often within minutes.
Because most of the SEO process is set up to run automatically, every page of my websites are fully optimized to get the best possible placements in the search engines. No other CMS makes it this easy.
Article Marketing – Why You Should Love it – A SPN Exclusive Article
By Jonathan McCulloch in Featured
Article marketing, which has fallen a little by the wayside in recent years if you listen to the ‘gurus’, remains, in my opinion, the best, most reliable and most sustainable way to grow long-term streams of traffic to your website. Why article marketing has fallen out of favor, I think, comes down to two things:
First, there’s no denying it’s harder work than it used to be to get substantial traffic with article marketing. Even as recently as 5 years ago, if you had a couple of dozen good-quality articles driving traffic from a popular article marketing site, you were getting a lot of hits. Nowadays, though, it’s a different story and you need perhaps ten times that number to get the same results.
I know, instant panic at the thought of writing several hundred articles, but it’s easier than you think and once you start seeing the results you’re going to be extremely motivated to write them. More on that in a moment.
And secondly, article marketing is kinda old-fashioned.
If you’ve been in the Internet marketing business for a while, or even if you’ve just been looking at it, you’ll probably have seen how rapidly new whizzbang gizmos and funky technology comes along and everyone’s suddenly doing the cool new dance. First it was audio, then video, then blogging, then social media… on and on, and round and round.
Now, I’m not making any judgement about any of these strategies, but the fact is they are all just new ways of doing an old thing: driving traffic to your website, and then converting visitors to buying customers.
In fact, even this isn’t anything new in itself. The only thing new about it is the “website” bit. Marketers and advertisers have been following the process for over 100 years.
I’ll not deny article marketing isn’t sexy and exciting (and I love to write, remember). It’s not new and shiny, and it’s easier to talk into a camera or microphone than to type on a keyboard, for most people at least.
In short, article marketing is old fashioned, dull, boring, and, so some will tell you, ineffective.
And how wrong they are. I confess I had this attitude myself, once upon a time.
In my own arrogance and ignorance I assumed because I don’t read articles online too often, no one else would. What’s more, I assumed because the sites were often pig-ugly and clunky, they’d be a waste of time.
And how wrong I was.
But don’t take my word for this – let’s look at the numbers and dig out the unarguable proof of this particular pudding.
The numbers I’m going to use are from a blog I’m involved with. It’s my wife’s blog, and while she writes the content, I do all the marketing traffic generation and whatnot for it. At present it’s making her a respectable $3,000 a month with very little work at all. She put in a lot of work in the beginning, and she has dominated her niche, but now she focuses on writing articles to drive even more traffic.
Her articles get an average of 0.66 clicks per day apiece with a click-through rate averaging 17.3%. Of course, not all articles are born equal and her top article gets an average of 5.24 clicks a day on a click-through rate of 27.6%. That’s phenomenal.
Here’s the really cool stuff: her list converts at 11.34%…and article traffic is over three times more likely to join her list than general SE traffic… which means article traffic is vastly more valuable to her and is so, so much easier to get.
Why?
Well, because of the immense kudos a good article marketing site has with Google et al, she can get a first-page and often first-position ranking for a competitive keyword from an article, whereas the same content on her site, even though she practically owns her niche, would be way down the list.
My own site is another example of this. One of my articles ranks #7 against competition of over 5,000,000. My site, on the other hand can be found at about page 13.
But wait! There’s even more article marketing coolness to come!
The clicks my wife gets currently are worth around $500 a month to her. If she doubles the number of articles she has, then that $500 becomes $1,000. And all things being equal, it’s cumulative, rather like putting money in the bank and getting interest on it.
Now, we mentioned motivation a while ago and hinted at the drudgery of writing hundreds of articles.
Yet, given the numbers, it’s really a no-brainer. With a bit of practice most people can turn out a perfectly good 400-word article in about 20 minutes. That’s three every hour.
But let’s say you can manage only two. If you put in just three hours a day, that’s six articles. Put in five hours and you could make it 10 articles.
Do that every day for three months and you’d have 1,000 articles up there, giving you 660 very highly qualified visitors (and in the case of my wife’s blog, that would be growing her list by about 52 subscribers a day, which translates to 5.89 sales, which average about $40).
The only thing stopping most website owners doing this is their own unwillingness to put in the time and effort.
No, it won’t do itself and it won’t happen overnight, no matter who does it.
But the next three months will pass anyway, whether you write those articles or not. The only question is – will you have done it or won’t you?
Your bank balance and traffic numbers will give you the answer to that one.

Top 5 SEO Tips to Increase Website Traffic
By Bjorn Allpas in Featured
Without a solid search engine optimization (SEO) plan your website is just floating around not doing much. These 5 SEO tips will get you moving in the right direction to improve your search engine rankings and increase traffic to your website.
1. Extensive Keyword Research
SEO starts with a solid keyword research and sorting. Most Vernon search engine optimization professionals are impatient and always in a hurry to implement their ideas.
Well, that keeps them revising their SEO Services efforts and eventual loss of time and traffic. Keyword research for effective SEO results needs a lot of patience and intelligent calculations. Above all you should be using the best possible tools to perform keyword research for a strong search engine optimization.
For example Google Keyword Tool, Google Insight and Google Suggestions. You will get the exact number of monthly searches on Google Keyword Tool. Here is what you should do then;
a) Download them in an excel sheet.
b) Find out your kind of keywords (that match your website content and products).
c) Sort them by daily searches.
2. Original and Optimized Content
SEO based content writing is the best element on a live web page. Both, search engine crawlers and human beings love to read original and effective content filled with useful information. However; there has to be an efficient use of SEO content writing techniques as well. A smart and optimized piece of content contains the right balance of the keywords throughout. Usually, it should have a keyword density of 2% to 5%.
a) Use two to three keywords in the whole content.
b) Start the content with the most important keyword and end it with the same keyword.
3. Web Page Optimization
Search Engine Crawler reads only the HTML of the web-page and so it must be properly optimizes to guide the crawlers to the right areas and content of the website. Put the keywords in the title, description, and add more keywords in the keywords area. Do not forget to put H1 to H6 using the keywords. Alt Tags must be placed on the images wherever possible.
4. Article Syndication
Write articles and Press releases about your website, it’s products and services. Submit the articles into as many article submission and press releases into major press releases websites. Do not forget to leave anchor texts so that readers can come to your website as well.

QR Codes Are a Smart Marketing Choice – A SPN Exclusive Article
By Gayle Hawks in Featured
Marketing used to be much simpler in past decades. The choices for advertising and promotion were much more limited. Today, however, the choices are vast and constantly changing in regard to how to effectively market your wares or services. One of the most popular and well-received technologies for use in marketing is the creative integration of Quick Response Codes, more commonly known as QR Codes, which are starting to dominate the marketing arena.
Why is that?
Today’s world relies heavily on hand held devices that offer you the opportunity to talk on the telephone, access your Email, and quickly surf the Internet – all from your smartphone, iPad, or other personal, portable Internet capable device that is with you throughout most of your day. What better way to place an ad than in this creative, emerging marketplace that offers information in many different forms?
How is a QR Code Used?
Basically a QR Code condenses everything into a barcode type graphic that can hold up to 7000 characters in a compact space that somewhat resembles a typical bar code scanned at a supermarket or other retail store. This means you can convey vast amounts of information in a little space. Consequently, QR Codes are popping up everywhere – from magazines, to promotional items and even business cards. All you have to do is have a QR Reader app on your smartphone scan it and you can read the information contained in the QR Code.
Often times the Quick Response Code may contain a special coupon, take a person to an interesting video or website. Many of the codes featured on business cards simply contain all of the contact information displayed on the card – it gets scanned and it’s automatically saved in a person’s address book on their smartphone.
Typical Uses for QR Codes
Used in Asia for some years, Quick Response Codes are now being used more in Europe, Australia, and the USA. A QR Code can quickly access the website of the advertiser instead of needing to type in a web address. It therefore makes it fast and easy for people to read, watch, or hear what you have to say about your products, make announcements, or provide nutritional information about food in a restaurant or a store.
Quick Response Codes are also being used for electronic tickets for concerts and to register for an event or provide airline tickets. QR Codes provide an excellent way to provide more information about your company on your business card. In a small space you can list your products or services and list other subsidiaries or information that is important to a potential customer.
QR Codes are the marketing frontier of the future. As technology continues to advance and smartphones and other hand held devices refine their QR Reader apps, the features and benefits of QR codes will become the “Wild West of marketing.”
