onlinereputationIn the online world, your reputation is one of your most valuable business assets. A good reputation instills confidence in your consumers and business partners, and can also help carry your company though bad press if/when it arises. Much of your online success is related to your online reputation, so that reputation needs to be carefully protected and maintained.

The maturation of social media has taken the control of a brand and placed it squarely in the hands of the consumer. It doesn’t matter how you define your brand, it all comes down to what your audience says. One negative comment on a social networking site can spread like wildfire in a matter of seconds and companies have to be prepared to deal with any related fall-out.

Here are 5 ways you can better manage your online reputation:

Set up e-mail alerts

All you need is a Gmail account. An e-mail alert is Google’s attempt to condense web activity around a given keyword or search phrase into a daily e-mail. While it doesn’t show you the entire buzz about your company and related keywords, it is a good way to get a snapshot every day of what is going on online.

copywritingOne of the skills that successful affiliate marketing requires is the craft of copywriting. The most powerful copywriting doesn’t overtly sell, it captures attention and retains it. It weaves persuasion around the reader.

Here are 15 tips on how to make your copywriting a compelling read for your prospects:

Keep sentences short. The average sentence should be in the region of 16 words. Waffling will lose the attention of the reader.

Research, research, research. Know your topic – without doing research beforehand you will end up using dribble.

Benefit in the headline. Use the biggest benefit as the headline. You can always edit it later on.

Benefits will sell your product. Clearly spell out the benefits to the readers – don’t rely on their imagination. Give it all to them on the plate.

Believe in your product. You need to feel passionate about your product to sell it. This is why it’s best to stick to products that you know something about and have an interest in. Use common sense backed by enthusiasm. Explain features and what the benefits of those features are.

Vary your sentence length. Long and then short will keep the flow sweeter to read and will retain the attention of your reader.

Split long sentences. If they are getting too long, split them into two. The use of good copywriting can really boost your affiliate marketing revenue, so is well worth the extra effort.

Write for every level of reader. Remove unnecessary words and language that couldn’t be read by a young teenager. If you over complicate your writing, you will be excluding potential buyers. The goal is to write as though you are having a one to one conversation with your reader in the same room.

Brevity. Use every word and sentence to make your point. Readers won’t hang around all day waiting for you to get to your argument.

Short paragraphs. These are easier to read online and allows the reader to scan the information.

Use bullets. Again, these make the copy easy to read. Benefits of a product are ideal to list in a list with bullets.

Simple language. Don’t use jargon or technical words, you’ll lose readers this way.

Positive language. Inspire your readers by telling them what they can achieve and attain by using your products. Don’t dampen their mood with negativity.

Use bold text. Aid skimming over your text with the use of bold, sub headings and bullets.

Use power words. Words such as ‘Free’, ‘proven’ and ‘new’.

When I write my copy, I usually try to do it all in one sitting. I will then return to it several hours later to refine it. Before using the copy, I will read it aloud. If there is anything in it that makes me cringe or that I would be too embarrassed to read out to another, then I know there’s something to be fixed.

Learning how to do good copywriting takes an investment of effort. One of the best ways to learn is to study the copywriting of others and learn what you feel works well and not so well. Once you’ve nailed it, you’ll see that your profits will definitely benefit from the time spent.

marketing3First, for those that may be unaware what Attraction Marketing is, a brief explanation. Attraction Marketing is a process by which one offers something of value free on the internet in order to generate solid leads via internet marketing techniques such as search engine optimization (SEO) in connection with pay-per-click campaigns or similar tools such as generating new site registrations.

By offering valuable content free, this will position you with the prospect or vendor as being trustworthy and an authority on the subject matter. This in turn will entice the prospect or vendor to seek additional information using your pre-established marketing structure.

Key to Attraction Marketing is the ability to produce valuable content to attract the prospect in the first place. Using the principles of SEO, having structured your content to achieve high rankings in specific search engines, this will be the first draw to getting the new or returning prospect. People respect value, and offering something of value right out the box will setup a much higher trust level with the prospect for further involvement. A prospect will be much more inclined to fill out a site registration form on your site if they trust that you are not going to use it to spam them, or to give their email address away. Many hard sell marketing approaches fail to recognize this fact when attempting to engender registrations or pursue the next step after one has hit on a pay-per-click ad.

Succeeding at network marketing through Attraction Marketing is further enhanced when one looks at the principles of Magnetic Sponsoring as explained in Mike Dillard’s book. Mike further explains the importance of creating more targeted leads, using strategies for generating additional cash flow for network marketing reps, and how it is critical to be perceived as an expert in the network marketing field. When it comes to Attraction Marketing, think of it as the Law of Attraction. People have a natural tendency, once reservations have been eliminated, to come together if there is value in the relationship.

Putting Attraction Marketing to work in your business requires a number of key principles:

1) Producing value added and relevant materials on a consistent basis
2) Promoting your “brand” by developing relationships on social networks
3) Presenting unique and relevant content – no cookie cutter materials
4) Avoiding the trap of the traditional “sales pitch;” attract rather than promote

When thought of as focusing on attraction rather than promotion, one can see how Attraction Marketing via network marketing is a different approach to take than other traditional marketing approaches. Many on the internet have “trust issues” due to spamming, transfer of computer viruses, and identity theft. It is critical to engender trust in the newly blossoming relationship if one expects to be successful marketing on the web.

The true entry point for all of this is to offer something of value – just remember that the prospect has most likely found you by doing a web search. If they have found your content helpful, they will be much more willing to take that next step. This fact remains true even if we are talking about a potential new vendor for your marketing services. Absolutely nothing beats a good first impression!

mapTo make your own interactive Flash map, you may need some initial software to work with. This software is known as interactive map building software and is available from different retailers in the web. You can create your own interactive and customizable maps for web usage or for offline presentation usage.

The majority of map builders come with a range of inbuilt templates but you can also import your own specific map area if it isn’t available within their inbuilt gallery.

Map creation is extremely easy within most map builders; you need no prior knowledge of interactive maps and no Flash programming experience. Here is a step by step user guide to creating your own map with an interactive map building software program.

- Open your map building via your operating system desktop or taskbar.

- Click the “Create/New Map” icon and a new map can be created.

- Click “import a custom map image” to import your custom clickable map image or one of the many template maps within the software program.

- In the Map Options tab you can set your map title e.g. John’s Work Map. You can also choose your background color, layout style and map size. If you tick the “Zooming Function/Zoom option” box you will be able to zoom in and out your map and navigate around it.

- Click the Map Options tab and enter the desired width/height of your map.

- You can now add the customizable, clickable features you desire if you follow the next tutorial steps.

How to define and add you own customizable clickable area:

- In the Points & Lines Tab (generally accessible via the INSERT tab in your map builder) select the shape of the area you would like to be clickable.

- Within the points and lines editing window you can draw your shape within the area you desire.

- Once you’ve drawn your area you can click within it and APPLY or SAVE so it becomes a fully functioning element of your map.

- Once you have applied this particularly map area you can add text boxes, location information or whatever else you would like to it.

There are many different customizable options within map building software. You can select some innovative info boxes or tooltips to add in your map, both of these add an extra dimension to your map.

To embed your map in your website you will need to upload and publish it first. If you want to publish your map you can simply click the “Publish” button at the toolbar.

Choose the desired location to save your published map and then you can toward to the embedding process. In the publishing screen you can find the HTML embed code which you will need to add your map to your website. Prepare your website page as you may need to use your HTML web editor and paste the HTML embed code from the publishing screen. You can then follow your usual steps for uploading your locally built webpage to your site online. This may vary slightly depending on the map building software you use but it is guaranteed your HTML embed code will be accessible through your software program.

To create your own personalized clickable map is more than achievable regardless of your design experience and with the right software you can create as many maps as you’d like.

Visit iMapbuilder today to download a free trial version of map making software that does not require coding and programming to create your own interactive image map. You can also download other flash software including flash photo gallery, music player, video player, and website builder.

webdevHow can you create a website for your business?

You can go to website Builder Company and pay for the website creation or you can create a website yourself.

For a long time I thought that in order to create a website you must be a programmer or a computer science engineer, you need to know technical languages as HTML, PHP, ASP and even C++ (I heard these names few times, but never knew what it means). I was wrong…nothing of the above is necessary.

First of all you just need to know what a website actually is. I will try to describe it assuming that the reader of this article knows nothing about website building. Website is a number of pages with text and images which are located on hosting server. Instead of keeping them in your “Documents” folder, you need to store them on a large computer that is called a server, so your pages could be accessed by other people via search engines or directly using your domain. This server is called web hosting. There are hosting companies that provide you with hosting solution for your website.

Additional element of a website is Content Management System (CSM). Once your pages are hosted you will need to have Content Management System to be able to change content, update information and upload new images. The lack of user friendly CSM will make the changes in your website very difficult and expensive.

Searching for “create a website” in Search Engines will show you a lot of companies that can create a website for you and companies that provide software that you can use to create your own website by yourself.

I have checked two kinds of website building solutions: one is free website builder (powered by Google) and the other one is a solution that allows you to create a website for free, but charges you for hosting.

“Google Sites” provides a solution for anyone who wants to build a simple website for his business. The hosting is for free, you can integrate images and videos using “You Tube” and “Picasa”. There are Help Topics for every function and Help Forum that you can search for answers, if you have some questions about implementing specific design or function. Free Google site currently don’t support Forum and Virtual Store implementation. But it is a really great solution for a small business that needs to be seen on the internet. It is absolutely free.

Second solution is website builder software that provides you with a 30 days free trial and charges for hosting solution afterwards. “Live City” is a great solution for businesses that their need is to have a website, which can be changed during time. A website created in this system can grow with your business. You can create a simple website to provide information about your business or you can create an ecommerce site by simply integrating virtual store element during the creation process. There is no need in any technical knowledge, no need to pay a lot of money to build virtual store. You can just add it with one click.

I have built a few websites in “Google sites” and in “Live City” sites. I have really enjoyed the simple drag and drop website builder used in Live City. It took me two hours to build a website; I greatly enjoyed the simple solution of designing the website, changing colors of background, tables, and fonts. The Content Management System is really convenient. It is a really great solution and the price is really low. Imagine yourself having virtual store for about 13$ per month.

You don’t need to have technical knowledge or high budget to create your own website. You can upgrade your business for free or for a minimal monthly fee and get visible online for all the potential customers who are looking for the service or product you provide.

Just choose the solution that fits you most. The sky is the limit!

videomktgThe other day while watching a training video created by another marketer, I missed the whole beginning of the program. The guy stood facing the camera, lecturing in a friendly manner and gesturing smoothly at some props behind him. I couldn’t take in his words because my mind was shouting, “That’s something I could never do!”

In truth, I probably could do it, but only with weeks of practice. And I probably wouldn’t feel happy about the effort. Creating a marketing piece with the camera focused on my face much or all of the time feels uncomfortably egotistical to me as an introvert. I’ve heard similar sentiments from introverted clients who get freaked out about video and TV but enjoy performing on radio and can manage public speaking, where they focus on the experience of their audience.

Yet does that mean introverts can’t comfortably use video as a promotional tool?

Not at all.

Appearing as a talking head is only one method of using video, and it’s probably the very most challenging video mode for introverts. Here are five alternate ideas for producing video content without forcing yourself into activities that feel alien and frightening.

redesign
In this third article on redesigning a website, we are going to look closely at off-page content issues, such as meta-tags, links, domain names etc.

Off-Page Content

The page Title tag is the single most important on-site element! There are also other opportunities for increasing the density of key words and phrases – some are listed below;

Title – The No.1 On-site Element

The maximum recommended length is 8-10 words, or 70 characters. Full manual control is important. In a CMS or ecommerce scenario, if all that can be offered is dynamic, it should be ordered as follows: Product Name + Category + Tagline :: maximum 70 characters. Do NOT use stop words, or irrelevant words. The best Title tag is one that is unique and strictly relevant to each individual page, and this is crucial to attaining top search engine rankings.

PageRankOne of the most controversial, misunderstood, confusing and debated topics in the SEO universe is the importance of PageRank. But let me be specific here. When I use the term “PageRank”, I’m not talking about Google’s 0-10 logarithmic toolbar PageRank, which is nothing more than a “superficial beauty contest” vanity tool – very much out-of-date, and does NOT have a direct impact on a site’s ranking. That fact was established long ago.

Google Removed PageRank Data From Webmaster Tools

In fact, Google removed PageRank data from Google Webmaster Tools back in October, 2009.

Here’s what Google Webmaster Central’s Susan Moskwa said about that move:

“We’ve been telling people for a long time that they shouldn’t focus on PageRank so much; many site owners seem to think it’s the most important metric for them to track, which is simply not true. We removed it [from Webmaster Tools] because we felt it was silly to tell people not to think about it, but then to show them the data, implying that they should look at it.

Personally, I would love to see us remove PR from the Toolbar, but mine is not the only opinion in Google.” (Source: Google Webmaster Central)

todolistAs a small business owner you’re probably doing a ton of things yourself in your business – some you need to do but some also that maybe you shouldn’t be doing, right? In talking with hundreds of entrepreneurs every month I find that the majority of them (you/us) struggle with our to do lists. You’re either:

*Not sure what to even put ON your to do list

*Have an overflowing to do list – business and possibly personal too

*Organizing your to do’s in a way that’s not easy for you to manage

*Not organizing them at all so you’re flustered every day with what to get done

*Ignoring your to do list altogether because it could be overwhelming

*Or you’ve got it down and thoroughly organized like a well-oiled machine

*Well, if you’re NOT in the situation of the very last point then you may be interested to know a few things you can do to better tackle your to do list.

The following are 4 tips I suggest to better manage your to dos:

1. Make one big to do list so nothing is forgotten
– You may want to break it down to personal and business tasks, separating the two and then making sure everything you think up is on that list or transferred there at some point during the week so you don’t forget.

While I’m on this subject, your to do list may NOT be the best place to put your big ideas. You may want to grab a small journal or book to write your ideas down as until they are planned out and have a strategy around them they are just ideas and not technically to dos. You will be less distracted by bright shiny objects and to dos if you manage your ideas this way.

2. Segment out your to dos
– Also with those tasks if you have some that are really big such as ‘design my website’ or ‘launch that new program’ what you want to do is break down those bigger to dos into much more manageable, bite-sized tasks that when all completed will accomplish that to do. Because more than likely you will not have time to design and write your whole entire website in one sitting or one day. That’s just setting yourself up for overwhelm and failure right from the beginning. Instead break down all the tasks included in getting that one thing done – hire designer, choose template and layout, decide on pages, write copy for various pages (different to dos for each page), and so much more.

3. Delegate first – Then you have to take a serious look at your to do list and determine which tasks MUST be done by you and only you and which ones really should be delegated.

Just because you are the only one that knows how to do a specific task doesn’t mean you can’t get that process out of your head and then delegate it. There are some situations you may be less likely to delegate such as copywriting for example. Unless you hire an actual copywriter or marketing coach like me who would know what to write, you will most likely have to do that task yourself.

On average at least one third of all your to dos could probably be delegated, maybe half. If you disagree with that then really take a hard look at why you feel the need to be in so much control like that because 6 and 7 figure business owners hardly do anything themselves.

4. Minimize your list – Finally I like to transfer off 2-4 (regular sized) to dos from the big list into a very small, manageable to do list every day that I’m in the office and have time to work on those tasks (not every day you will have time). This way when these are done (don’t take too many!) then you can celebrate your success instead of wallow in your grief and guilt by looking at the bigger to do list at the end of the day.

I guarantee these steps will work for you if you follow them. Before you know it, that task list will be manageable and better yet, you’ll be accomplishing more than you ever thought you could which means LESS STRESS!

videomktgIt is becoming very clear that video sharing is the future of the Internet and is here to stay. It’s amazing to imagine that your video can be seen all over the planet. It is already so powerful, but, we are just standing at the brink. There is still a tremendous amount more that can and will be done with video. We have not even begun to see all that will be possible.

The important thing to know is that you will seldom receive the power that video marketing offers unless you apply the proper video marketing strategies to your video sharing. I will go over a few of these crucial video marketing strategies with you in this article. If you aren’t already doing so, I encourage you to take full advantage of video marketing. And, I encourage you to do so, along with taking these video marketing strategies into consideration.

1.) Video Marketing Strategies, Strategy One: Master Your Video Editing

If you want your videos to stand out then make sure you’re editing them the right way, by adding text, special effects, sound, etc. Editing is a big part of the whole video creation process, which contributes to your overall success on video sharing websites. You can learn from watching other videos, and there are also courses you can take that will show you some creative things. After all, if your video isn’t making a good impression, it won’t matter how many views it gets. So, if you will be making your own videos, be sure to keep practicing so you get more familiar with the process.

2.) Video Marketing Strategies, Strategy Two: Use Video Sharing Platforms

Videos are transforming into a vital component of the Internet, and a consistent way to dispense information over the Internet. A few years ago, sharing videos on the web wasn’t as easy as it is today with the advent of video sharing sites such as YouTube. Being an Internet marketer, you should realize the value of these video sharing platforms that allow you to reach out to your target audience with a simple video.

3.) Video Marketing Strategies, Strategy Three: Use Your Primary Keywords The Correct Way

It is important to know that the video sharing sites will use their own evaluation system for all the videos. So one thing you should do is use your primary keyword in the video file name. There is no reason to name it something other than a useful tag, or keyword. You will simply be optimizing your video for video site and search engine search. And that is one of your most important video marketing strategies.

When video sharing sites start to rank your videos, they look at different elements of your videos to rank them well. This is why you should label your video’s file name effectively and include your keyword in there. This is a very common practice, for those who know about it, and you can help yourself by doing it, as well. Your video filename should be the URL extension for the video, and if it is not then use it in the URL.

4.) Video Marketing Strategies, Strategy Four: Join A Niche Group Or Groups

Video sharing sites like YouTube have targeted groups in almost every little niche; join these groups and become an active member. Contribute to the groups you join and be a part of the community. This way, once you get recognized, you can insert your website’s link in the signature before posting anything. If you’re able to give out valuable content that is targeted towards that particular group, the members will start to trust you and therefore will start to check out your signature link. This works much the same way as forums and discussion boards, except that it’s all about videos.

5.) Video Marketing Strategies, Strategy Five: Continue To Promote Your Videos For Maximum Exposure

Every once in a while it is possible, but the vast majority of times you cannot just load your video and expect traffic to get to it. That is why it is crucial to promote your videos for maximum exposure. This is probably the key of all your video marketing strategies. Sharing sites are good, but it is smart to do more promoting, rather than merely relying on views from the sharing sites. And, you should also do all you can to market your videos via social networking sites.

Leveraging social media can help your videos reach out to your target audience through different channels. Your aim should be to get your video in front of as many prospects as possible. Your overall conversions will increase as you gain more viewers that hopefully convert to website visitors. And, the best part about video marketing on these sites is that once your video becomes popular in your niche, it will keep spreading, getting more and more people to watch, which is exactly what you’re looking for.

In conclusion, from the above article and video marketing strategies, you can clearly see that video marketing can bring in massive traffic to your website or blog if used effectively. You have this new-fangled opportunity, applying these hot strategies, to leverage video content to get visitors interested in your site, make a high number of sales, gather more prospects and increase your web-based business. And, that’s cool!
