A new study by the OPA and Frank Magid Associates indicates that tablets are quickly becoming adopted into people’s lives. In the U.S., tablet adoption is currently at 31% (74MM tablet users), up from 12% the year before (28MM tablet users). By Q2 2013, tablet usage is expected to reach 47% (117MM tablet users).
The majority of tablet users fall in the 25 to 44 age group with most earning $50k or more.
Most tablet owners use their devices to access content and information (94%). Accessing the internet (67%) and checking email (66%) were close seconds. Watching video (54%), getting weather information (49%), and accessing national news (37%) and entertainment content (36%) were the primary content activities.
