Twitter is making its tweets “more visual” in a bid to better compete against other social networks like Facebook, Google+ and Instagram.
Twitter is no longer just a site to send 140-character messages, thanks to an update of its website and its iPhone and Android apps. The change automatically brings photos and Vine videos to users’ timelines. Anyone wishing to see more of the photo or play the video can do so with a tap of the finger.
“So many of the great moments you share on Twitter are made even better with photos or with videos from Vine,” Twitter said in a blog post.
“These rich Tweets can bring your followers closer to what’s happening, and make them feel like they are right there with you. We want to make it easier for everyone to experience those moments on Twitter.”
Twitter is also making it easier for users to reply, retweet or favorite a tweet right from their timelines.
