Twitter Launches Facebook-Like Redesign

Twitter has a brand new look — and it looks a whole lot like it was inspired by chief rival Facebook.

The makeover makes the microblogging site much more visual with its prominent cover photo and profile picture. Also featured more prominently are the number of tweets and the number of photos/videos posted, the number of people you follow and the number following you.

Twitter says the redesign was a bid to make Twitter more “fun” for its users.

“Moment by moment, your Twitter profile shows the world who you are. Starting today, it will be even easier (and, we think, more fun) to express yourself through a new and improved web profile,” reads a blog post.

“What’s new about the new you? The new web profile lets you use a larger profile photo, customize your header, show off your best Tweets and more.”

The redesign adds best tweets, a feature that highlights all of your best content so tweets with higher engagement are easier to find.

Another new feature is pinned tweets, a tool that enables you to pin one of your tweets to the top of your page, while filtered tweets gives you the option of which timeline to view when looking at other profiles. You can now choose from: tweets, tweets with photos/videos, or tweets and replies.

Anyone who joins Twitter will immediately receive the new layout but it will roll out in the coming weeks to existing users.

Twitter posted a number of celebrity profiles featuring the new look. Check some of them out below:
