Amazon is taking eCommerce to another level with a newly-launched digital shopping assistant that makes shopping on its site even easier.
Dubbed Amazon Dash, users, with the press of a button, can order coffee, diapers, laundry detergent or other household items they are running low on.
Dash, a programmable key, comes with a reusable adhesive and a hook so users can hang, stick, or place where they need it.
“Keep Dash Button handy in the kitchen, bath, laundry, or anywhere you store your favorite products,” reads the website. “When you’re running low, simply press Dash Button, and Amazon quickly delivers household favorites so you can skip the last-minute trip to the store.”
So far, there are 258 Dash items such as Maxwell House coffee, Bounty paper towels, Huggies diapers, Clorox disinfecting wipes and Oil of Olay. Presumably more products will be added with time.
Sounds pretty cool, right? But before you get too excited, Amazon Dash is available by invitation only to select Amazon Prime subscribers.
Only Amazon Prime members who receive an e-mail invitation from the company for a free Dash Button are eligible. And those who are invited must accept quickly — the offer expires within seven days of receiving the e-mail. The offer is limited to three Dash buttons per customer while supplies last.
Once you have a Dash button, it is easy to set up. Using the Amazon app on your Smartphone, connect to your home Wi-Fi network and select the product you want to re-order with the Dash button.
“Once connected, a single press automatically places your order,” the website reads. “Amazon sends an order alert to your phone, so it’s easy to cancel if you change your mind. Unless you elect otherwise, Dash Button responds only to your first press until your order is delivered.”
