Facebook Debuts Live Streaming for iOS Users With Verified Pages

Facebook’s live-streaming video feature is no longer just for celebrities and influencers.

The social media site has now granted those with verified pages the ability to live stream.

“Today, we’re beginning to roll out the ability for verified Pages to share live video using Facebook for iOS,” Facebook said in a blog post. “With Live, sports teams, media companies, brands, and other verified Pages can make announcements, share breaking news updates, take fans behind the scenes, host Q&As, and more.”

To share live video, go to your Page on Facebook for iOS and select Publish and then Live Video. Then simply write a brief description before making the clip live.

You will be able to track the number of viewers as well as likes and comments in real-time and the names of other verified people or Pages who are viewing your stream.

When your broadcast concludes, it will be published on your Page so anyone who missed it can watch the video later. You can remove the video from your feed at any time.

Those who like your Page will receive notifications about the live streams you post and people will have the option of subscribing so they will be notified whenever your Page goes live.

“Over the past few months, we’ve been testing Live with a handful of verified Pages,” Facebook said. “We’ve been excited to see all the ways Live has been used so far, and can’t wait to see what’s to come.”
