Voice Search App Promises Faster Results

Hound Available for Both Android and iOS

While many apps may tell users what their seeking is at their fingertips a new app could change that by claiming the information is at the tip of their tongue.

Hound SpeechThe app, Hound, needs a user to simply speak – ask a question, specifically – to launch a search and come back with all the relevant information. The key with Hound, though, is users can add to their request to further narrow down the response.

The app officially became available Tuesday.

“The fastest and easiest way to get the information, entertainment, and communication services you want, Hound is built for your busy life, allowing you to get what you need and move on,” the app’s description boasts on the Google Play site.

The company behind Hound, SoundHound, explains the app can be used for a variety of questions with users able to do many things including looking up the weather, placing a phone call, sending a text message, finding a hotel that matches detailed criteria, navigating to an address, checking the stock market, searching and playing music, and even playing interactive games.

“Hound takes speed and accuracy to a whole new level by combining Speech Recognition and Language Understanding. Just recognizing words isn’t good enough, so Hound does language understanding at the same time. This Speech-to-Meaning capability makes Hound the new way to search and do things faster without typing,” the company’s site explains.

Hound is available for both Android and iOS.
