Forget where you parked your car?
No worries, Google Maps has got your back — but only if you are an Android user.
Google Maps latest beta version for Android includes a new feature that lets you enter your parking location with a simple tap of the finger.
Once you tap on the little blue dot — it represents your vehicle — select the ‘Save your parking’ option in the menu. The list will surface as long as you are signed into Google Maps.
As part of the beta, you will then have the option of adding a note to your parking location, for instance ‘near light post, aisle 4.’ You have the option of setting a timer so you will remember how long you can park your car for, and can even take some pictures to remind you of your parking spot.
Google did not indicate how long the beta period would be or when it would bring the new features to Google Maps for iOS.
But seeing as Apple Maps already contains parking reminders, the fact that Google Maps does not offer the functionality for iOS isn’t the end of the world.
Apple Maps’ parking reminder feature does not require input from users like Google’s version does and it also allows users to add notes and a photo.
