Facebook’s Messenger ads are now available to advertisers worldwide.
The social networking firm has announced availability of the beta program after a successful test of Messenger ads in Australia and Thailand.
“This means businesses of every size get a new tool for creating meaningful connections with customers and prospects,” Facebook said on its business blog. “More than 1.2 billion people use Messenger every month, which gives marketers an opportunity to expand the reach of their campaigns and drive more results.”
The ads, which will roll out slowly to a small number of marketers around the globe over the next few weeks, will not appear in conversations but in the home tab of their Messenger mobile app.
When a person taps on an ad, he or she will be transported to the destination picked during the ad’s creation such as a website or a Messenger conversation.
Messenger ads will be available for purchase in Ads Manager and Power Editor.
“If you’re using automatic placements, Messenger is included for all supported campaign objectives,” Facebook said. “Like Audience Network, Messenger ads are an additional placement option when businesses run ads on Facebook. Advertisers will be able to add Messenger to campaigns using the Traffic and Conversion objectives as of July 11, with more options like the App Installs objective coming soon.”
Businesses can also use Messenger’s advertising solutions to open conversations with click to Messenger ads, manage conversations within Messenger Platform and re-engage those conversations using sponsored messages.
