Below are software applications that were selected for inclusion in the daily SiteProNews newsletter. The programs are both shareware and freeware, and all were selected for their usefulness to webmasters in the management of their web sites.

SearchPreview 5.3 (5.0 KB) is a Firefox extension that displays website snapshots (as thumbnails) when viewing your Google, Yahoo, and Bing search results. Thumbnail will display automatically once installed. Freeware. Requires Firefox.

FirefoxDownloadsView 1.2 (174 KB) is an easy to use utility that displays the latest files that you downloaded with Firefox. The program lists the Download URL, Download Filename (with full path), Referrer, MIME Type, File Size, etc. Freeware for Windows 2K/ XP/ 2003/ Vista/ 2008/ 7. Requires Firefox 3.0 or higher.

KeyScrambler Personal 2.9 (1.3 MB) is a plug-in for your web browser that protects your username and password from keyloggers. It defeats keyloggers by encrypting your keystrokes at the keyboard driver level, deep within the operating system. Freeware for Windows 2K/ XP/ 2003/ Vista/ 7.

MeasureIt 0.4 is an easy-to-use Firefox add-on that draws a ruler across any webpage to check the width, height, or alignment of page elements in pixels. Freeware. Requires Firefox 1.0 - 6.0.

Greasemonkey 0.9 is a Firefox add-on. It customizes the way a web page displays or behaves by using just small bits of JavaScript. You can write your own scripts too. Requires Firefox 3.5 - 5. Not compatible with Firefox 6.

ColorZilla 2.5 is a Firefox extension. Features include an Advanced Eyedropper, Color Picker, Palette Viewer, CSS Gradient Generator, Web Color Analyzer, Photoshop-like new/current color split panel, Firebug integration, etc. Freeware for Windows, Linux and MacOSX. Requires Firefox 2.0 - 4.0.

Tab Mix Plus 0.3 is a Firefox add-on that enhances its tab browsing capabilities. Features include a full-featured session manager, duplicating tabs, controlling tab focus, tab clicking options, undo closed tabs and windows, etc. Requires Firefox 3.0 and higher.

Yoono is a Firefox sidebar add-on that simplifies your online social life by connecting you to Facebook, MySpace, Twitter, LinkedIn, YouTube, Flickr, AIM, Yahoo IM. You can share links, images and video, get status updates, IM, etc. all from one place. Works with Firefox 3.0 and higher.

Feedly 5.5 is a Firefox add-on that provides an easy way to browse and share the content of your favorite sites. The magazine-like, RSS reader start page provides seamless integration with Google Reader, Twitter, Delicious and YouTube. Works with Firefox 3.0 or higher.

Download Statusbar is a Firefox add-on that lets you view and manage your downloads from a tidy statusbar - without the download window getting in the way of your web browsing. The fully customizable interface auto-hides when not in use. Works with Firefox 3.0 and higher.

TrackerBlock 1.0 a Firefox add-on that deletes Flash cookies and blocks cookie tracking from over 200 companies. Access the control panel from the Firefox "Tools" pull down menu after installation. Requires Firefox 3.0 or higher.

Interclue 1.6.1 a Firefox add-on that provides information about each link, with icons and tooltips, before you click. It will tell you if the content is full of paid-for links, objectionable material, or just irrelevant. Requires Firefox 3.0 or higher.

LessSpamPlease 0.7.1 a FireFox extension that generates a disposable email address for online registrations, filling out forms, leaving blog comments, etc.; eliminating the amount of spam in your mailbox. Requires Firefox 3.6 or later.

Clear Cache Button 0.9d (10KB) is an add-on that empties out Firefox's memory and disk store with just one click. Use it when a web page won't reload or to clear your cache, etc. (Find the button in the toolbar customization panel.)

Albatross Clouds Browser 2.5 (6.3 MB) is a RSS feed reader that supports multiple view tabs, includes a RSS Builder and that has links to all popular cloud applications. Freeware for Windows 7/ XP/ 2003/ Vista.

iPhone Explorer (1.1 MB) is an iPhone browser that lets you browse files and folders on your iPhone and use drag-and-drop to add or remove files and folders. Compatible with all iPhones and iPod Touches. Freeware for Windows XP/Vista/7 and Mac OSX 10.5 or 10.6. Requires iTunes software.

Element Browser 3 (18 MB) is a new web browser that gives you power, simplicity and extreme ease of use. Key features include speed, built-in malware protection, anonymous surfing, safe surf and shelfs versus tabs for smart browsing. Freeware for Windows 2000/ XP/ 2003/ Vista/ 2008/ 7.

Google Translate 1.2.3.1 (25 KB) adds a button to your Chrome browser toolbar. Use the translate icon to translate any page you're visiting. Automatically detects the language of the page you're on if different from the language you're using for Google Chrome.

Muddly 7.0 (388 KB) is a tool for Internet Explorer users designed specifically for researchers, professionals and power users. Features include Multi-Paned Browsing, Document Support, RSS Tree Browsing, Favorites Tree Browsing, Muddly Tray and skins. Freeware for Windows XP/ Vista.

Opera 11.0 (6.8 MB) is the most recent release of the popular web browser. Includes all the features you'd expect, including tabs, mouse gestures, integrated e-mail client, support for RSS feeds, fast forward and rewind buttons, extensive drag and drop, and Turbo compression to boost slow connection speeds. Freeware for all Windows versions.

WooSnap 2.0 (11 MB) is a search tool with multi-tiered, tabbed browsing, featuring a small command bar, automatic website translation and numerous search options. Freeware for Windows XP/Vista.

Aardvark Homepage Creator 2.0 (3.5 MB) allows you to see headlines from your favorite sites whenever you log onto the Internet through an easy to use interface. Create homepages for Internet Explorer, Firefox and other browsers. Comes with a directory of RSS feeds and you can add Google search, time and weather forecasts. Freeware for Windows 98 or higher.

Ginipic (3.7 MB) allows you to search for images on all major search engines and photo sharing websites simultaneously. Search results can be used immediately by dragging and dropping images into MS Office, Photoshop, email, etc. Image details provided for each image including copyright level if applicable. Freeware for Windows. Requires .NET Framework 3.5 SP1.

Linkman Lite 7.80 (8.1 MB) is a bookmark management solution for storing, organizing and annotating your favorite Internet pages. Handles large numbers of URLs by using a database to store links. Can add links from all browser windows and retrieve keywords and descriptions automatically. Other features include a customizable interface, importing/ exporting bookmarks, support for all major web browser versions, optional desktop toolbar, search, rating system, etc. Freeware for Windows 98 or higher - non-commercial use.

Internet Explorer Collection 1.1.1.0 (43 MB) contains multiple standalone versions of IE, which can be used at the same time. Includes all I.E. versions from 1.0 to 8.0. Freeware for Windows.

WIPE 2.17 (2.7 MB) is an easy and powerful tool to clear user browsing history, clean index.dat files, remove cookies, cache, logs, delete temporary internet files, autocomplete search history and any other tracks left after using your PC. SE-RssTools (382 KB) is a set of programs for RSS reading and writing which allows you to view, create and edit RSS feeds without any knowledge of RSS format and structure. Freeware for Windows 2000/ XP/ 2003/ Vista. Requires .NET Framework 2.0.

Real Simple News 1.0 (4.2 MB) is an advanced RRS Reader that allows you to stay current with the news, view article summaries, pictures and video without searching the web. You can also play music, shop and watch internet TV, search popular search engines or use the embedded web browser to surf the web. Freeware for Windows 2000/ XP/ Vista.

KallOut (3.2 MB) brings "selection-based search" to any web page, email, presentation, document, spreadsheet or PDF. Unlike other search methods, KallOut serves up search content inside floating information palettes (KallOuts). Select any word or phrase to see results. Freeware for Windows XP / Vista.

Google Chrome Beta (486 KB) is Google's entry into the web browser arena. Chrome combines a minimal design with sophisticated technology to make the web faster, safer, and easier. For feature details visit the Google Chrome site. Freeware for Windows Vista/ XP. Linux Mac versions coming soon.

Eluma 2.1 (469 KB) is an integrated RSS Reader and Bookmark Manager with social sharing capabilities. Freeware for Windows NT/ XP/ Vista.

SeoQuake 2.7.2 (175 KB) is a Firefox/I.E. browser extension for webmasters interested in SEO. Provides a wide range of information on web pages such as Pagerank, number of links, number of indexed pages, etc.

Weblin 2.7.11 (549 KB) is a 3D chat client that turns the Web into a virtual world. Your Weblin avatar surfs the web with you, enabling you to see other weblin avatars on the same site as you. Chat, move, show emotion, visit lounges, and trade stuff with other weblins. Freeware for Windows XP / 2003 / Vista.

Safari 5 (19.5 MB) is touted by Apple as being the world's fastest web browser. Features an elegant interface, tabbed and private browsing, built-in RSS, resizable text fields, etc. Freeware for Windows XP/ Vista.

DataBrowser 3.5.3 (1.65 MB) is a cross-database, cross-platform data access tool written completely in Java. Open multiple browser windows connected to various different databases. Has a syntax-highlighting sql editor. Add or update data to tables with a GUI interface. Execute any SQL statement. Freeware for Java 1.4/1.5.

Browser Defender (582 KB) is toolbar for IE 5.0+ that displays site safety ratings based on any malicious behavior or threats found associated with a visited site. Also, integrates with search results provided by Google, Yahoo, etc. so you can see if it is safe to continue before you visit a site. Freeware for Windows 2000/ XP/ 2003/ Vista.

EnjoyIE 3.0 (638 KB) is fast web browser that requires minimal resources. Features include Web page Preview, a Feed Reader, tabbed browsing, screen capture and Super Drag & Drop. Freeware for Windows XP/ Vista.

Safavor 2.0 (36 KB) is a browser independent bookmark manager which can be stored on a USB stick for easy transport. Store URLs and related notes, keywords or detailed descriptions. Handy keyword search function to easily find any entry. Freeware for Windows 98/ ME/ 2000/ XP/ Vista.

TouchPicture (425 KB) is an Internet Explorer add-on for showing disabled pictures by just clicking them (instead of using the Show Picture item in the context menu). Freeware for Windows 95/ 98/ Me/ NT4/ 2000/ XP/ 2003/ Vista and I.E. 4/ 5/ 6/ 7

LinkCollector 3.5.3 (676 KB) is a bookmark manager for capturing and storing links. Works effectively with a large number of addresses. It can group Internet links into categories and has a good feature set and a nice intuitive interface. Freeware for Windows 2000/ XP.

SeaMonkey 2.0.14 (13 MB) is an all-in-one Mozilla application that includes a web browser, a mail and newsgroups client, an html editor, web development tools and an IRC chat client. Freeware for Windows 95/98/Me/NT 3.51/4.0/ 2000/2003/XP, Linux and Mac OS X.

Spacetime is a unique, 3D browser that provides 3D web and image search as well as 3D tabbed browsing. Websites and images are presented in visual stacks. Significant departure from regular web browsing. Freeware for Windows 2000/ XP/ Vista.

Advanced RSS Mixer Personal (2.6 MB) can combine different RSS feeds into one feed and upload it to your server. Handles multiple RSS feeds, has a built-in keyword filter, allows for multiple category feed sorting, etc. For Windows 9x/ ME/ NT4/ 2Kx/ XP. Freeware version limits the number of feeds that can be merged to five.

Lunascape 6 (7.4 MB) is an advanced tabbed web browser that has won legions of fans in Japan. Has an abundance of features, including a built-in RSS ticker, quality skins and support for a variety of plug-ins and toolbars. Uses both the IE and Mozilla Gecko engines to view web sites. Freeware for Windows 98SE/ ME/ 2000/ XP/ 2003.

SimpleFindBar 2.0 (170 KB) is a useful add-on for Internet Explorer that finds any text on web pages. Replaces the built in 'Find' dialog with an Incremental Search bottom bar. Type what you are looking for and the matched text is found and highlighted inside the page. Freeware for Windows XP/ NT 4.x/ 2Kx.

DebugBar V5.4.1 (590 KB) is an I.E. plug-in with a host of useful features, including html validator, http and dom inspector, etc. Freeware for Windows 98/Me/2000/XP/2003. Requires IE 5.0+.

mirabyte Feed Writer (2.4 MB)is a RSS editor for creation of RSS feeds. It supports most RSS formats (RSS 0.91/0.92/2.0) and even Podcasts. Has an Excel import function, built-in FTP-Client as well as feed archive and validation features. Freeware for Windows 98/ ME/ NT 4.x/ XP/ 2000/ 2003.

G-Zapper v1.45 (591 KB) helps you stay anonymous while searching Google and works with I.E. 5.0+ or Firefox 1.5+. It reads the Google cookie(s) installed on your PC, displays the date installed, and determines how long your searches have been tracked. Allows you to delete or block Google from future installation. Freeware for Windows 95/ 98/ ME/ NT/ 2000/ XP.

Internet Explorer 9.0 (14.8 MB) - the latest and final 9.0 version of Microsoft's web browser with tabbed windows, phishing filter and more.

Submit'em Now Beta is a Firefox extension that adds a built-in database of 100 blog and rss directories that you can use for submitting your blog. Freeware. Requires Firefox 1.5.0.4 - 1.5.0.6.

Snarfer 1.0.2 (318 KB) is a new RSS feed aggregator and reader focused on speed, efficiency and ease of use. Also, includes a RSS Search Wizard that enables users to conduct complex searches on either eBay or Craigslist. Freeware for Windows XP or higher.

WebReaper (1.27 MB )is web crawler that can work its way through a website, downloading pages, pictures and objects that it finds. Sites can be saved locally as a fully-browsable website which can be viewed with any browser. Freeware for Windows XP.

GreatNews (914 KB) is a fast RSS feed reader that offers different view styles and that can read a group of feeds without you having to click-through individual feed items. Features include custom labels, email and blog integration, custom keyword alerts, import/export of feeds, automatic cleanup of old items, browser integration, etc. Freeware for Windows NT/ 2000/ XP.

Optimal Desktop (8.1 MB) is a 3-dimensional tabbed web browser, RSS Reader, file explorer and XML editor and publisher. Features include popup blocker, password recorder, toolbar and window customization, assignable keyboard shortcuts, powerful link sharing features, etc. Freeware for Windows 98/ME/NT3&4/2k/XP.

News Jungle RSS Reader (1.87 MB) is a blog, news, and RSS reader that has an easy-to-use interface and built-in browser support. Pre-loaded RSS feeds allow you to view news and blogs from around the world. Other features include adding your own RSS feeds and keyword filters. Freeware for Windows 98/ ME/ 2000/ XP.

Merriam-Webster Toolbar (20 KB) adds a search box to the Internet Explorer or Firefox browser toolbar allowing you to look up words from a dictionary or thesaurus. Highlight a word on a Web page and click. Results display in a new browser window. Freeware for Windows 9x/ NT/ Me/ 2000/ XP.

Webcow (171 KB) is a slick little tool that grabs links from websites or directory listings, filters them and downloads all. File size and content-type are configurable. Webcow has support for ftp, http, https, file, protected sites, redirects, cookies and proxy. Integrates into Internet Explorer Menu and has numerous parse methods, import and export functions. Freeware for Windows 9x/ 2000/ NT/ XP.

Blog Navigator (1.1 MB) makes it easy to read blogs on the Internet. It integrates into various blog search engines and can read RSS feeds from within properly coded websites. Freeware version fully functional except for functions that permit writing and editing blogs. For Windows 98/ Me/ 2000/ XP.

A-ToolBar (2.4 MB) brings you 50 useful tools in one toolbar, including metasearch, desktop search, an RSS feed reader, Google PageRank and Alexa Rank, links manager, app manager, language translator, a PIM and much more. Freeware for Windows 95/ 98/ Me/ NT/ 2000/ XP.

ExactSeek Toolbar (244 KB) is an Internet Explorer add-on that provides quick access to searches on ExactSeek, MetaWebSearch, and GoArticles. Features include spyware detection and removal, pop-up blocker, search word highlighting, Alexa site ranking detail, cursor search, drag and search, zoom in and zoom out, clear search history and cookies functions and much more. Freeware. Requires Internet Explorer 4.0+ and Windows 9x/ ME/ NT4/ 2000/ XP.

Turbo Favorites Checker (100 KB) fixes, deletes, and/or quarantines browser bookmarks that lead to 404's, 500's and connection unreachable errors. Works with Internet Explorer, Mozilla Firefox and Netscape! Auto - updates. Freeware for Windows 9x/ ME/ 2K/ XP.

Active Web Reader (675 KB) is a web feed reader (aggregator). Supports RSS feed formats 0.9x, 1.x and 2.x. Add your favorite feed URLs and keep yourself updated without having to visit the web-sites again. Freeware for Windows 98SE/ ME/ 2000/ XP. Requires Internet Explorer 6 or higher.

SurfPics (1.7 MB) is an image search themed web browser that provides easy access to image search engines and image galleries. Search for images, graphic files, and pictures and find related links, subjects, images, and topics associated with the website you're viewing. Freeware for Windows 95/ 98/ ME/ NT/ 2000/ XP.

NoTrax (2.11 MB) is a web browser that lets you Surf the Net anonymously. It cleans as you surf! NoTrax does not remember what sites you've visited! Erases the Cache during and after each browser session, cache held in memory, not disk, no information is stored on your hard drive and favorites are stored in encrypted format. Does not run Spyware, JavaScript or ActiveX. For Windows 9x/ ME/ NT/ 2000/ XP. Shareware $19.95.

PractiSearch (1.1 MB) is a unique search tool that simplifies the way you access online search engines and information resources. Allows you to start a Web search with a selected word or term, using a hotkey or a mouse click and works from within any application. Use it to look up text from e-mail messages, Word documents, etc. Supports many search engines by default, including Google, news sites, dictionaries, translations and more. You can also add your own entries to the list. Free for Windows 98/ ME/ NT/ 2000/ XP.

Favorite Start Page (104 KB) is a handy browser start page in dynamic HTML. Import/export your I.E. bookmarks to a single, dynamic HTML file which can be stored on hard disk or on the Web. Urlbase (2.53 MB) is a powerful bookmark and favorites manager for all major browsers. It can import, export and synchronize your links from browser to browser, using an easy to use interface. The program includes options to export your links to HTML format or send your link collection to a friend via e-mail. Additional features include link validation, personal comments addition, keyword search, duplicate checker and custom interface options. Free for non-commercial use. IEMate (381 KB) allows you to customize Internet Explorer without having to directly update the registry. You can use it to remove AOL or your ISP branding logo or to customize: the Window title bar, spinning logo, static logo, toolbar background, start page URL, download directory, and Web page save directory. In addition, you can access Internet Options, Organize Favorites, and reset Internet Explorer to the default settings. Freeware.

Privacy Defender (519 KB) protects your privacy at home and work by removing all the personal information which is stored in your Internet browser. Includes several key features such as preventing sites from changing your home page, clears all Windows secret index.dat files, removes Windows temp directories and recent files list, and more. Avant Browser (810 KB) is a multi-window (tabbed) browser based on the Internet Explorer core that allows you to browse multiple Web sites simultaneously, blocks unwanted pop-up pages and offers additional mouse functions for faster navigation. Additional features include an integrated privacy cleaner that helps to remove surfing tracks and a built-in Google search engine. All your IE settings and Favorites are still available. Freeware. Newsgroup Commander Simplifies complex searches in Usenet archives. Features include message search by keyword, data and address extraction, built-in newsgroup reader, multiple include/exclude filters, keyword filters, automatic deletion of duplicate addresses and much more. Freeware. For Windows 9x/ME/NT4/2000.

Vertical Toolbar 0.2 a Firefox add-on that adds a vertical toolbar at the edge of your browser's window. Features allow you to automatically hide the toolbar and add additional toolbar buttons. Works with Firefox 8.0 - 11.

Xmarks Sync 4.0 is a Firefox bookmarking add-on. It will keep your bookmarks, passwords and open tabs backed up and synchronized across computers and browsers (Firefox, Safari, Chrome, and IE). You can access your bookmarks from any web browser or mobile phone. Freeware. Requires Firefox.

Read It Later 2.1 is a Firefox add-on that allows you to save pages to a reading list to read when you have time. You can access your reading list from any computer or phone (without an internet connection), batch a reading list just by clicking on interesting links, etc. Freeware. Requires Firefox.

WebBrowserPassView 1.1 (207 KB) is a password recovery tool that lets you view all website logins and passwords that are stored in your browsers (IE, Firefox, Opera & Chrome). Helps you recover the lost/forgotten password for websites (i.e. Facebook, Yahoo, Google, and GMail) previously stored by your browser. Freeware for Windows.

DictionaryBoss (206 KB) is a toolbar that provides one-click access to Dictionary.com, Wikipedia, and Urban Dictionary. Get access to helpful synonyms and semantic tools, translation assistance, word games, spell checker, thesaurus, etc. Freeware for Windows.

Adblock Plus 1.3 is a Firefox add-on that will remove or block online advertising and all known malware domains. Supported by over 40 filter subscriptions that you can customize, a block tab for Flash and Java objects, etc. Freeware. Requires Firefox 3.5 or higher.

Google Shortcuts 2.1 is a Firefox addon that lets you display all Google services as a dropdown menu or buttons. Get your Gmail, Google reader, Google maps, Google calendar, etc. in a single click from your browser. Requires Firefox 2.0 and higher.

Web of Trust (WOT) Firefox add-on is a safe browsing, reputation rating tool. It has a traffic-light style rating system that lets you see which websites are trusted when you search, surf, and shop online helping you protect your computer and personal information. Requires Firefox 3.0 and higher.

ReminderFox is a Firefox add-on that displays and manages reminders and ToDo lists. You can remember all of your important dates with lists, alerts, and alarms right in your browser without the need of a separate calendar program. Works with Firefox 1.0 and higher.

Pixlr Grabber 2.1.1 is a Firefox add-on that allows you to grab screens and images from the web. You can copy, save, share, and even edit your final grabs - including any image or background - with just a right-click. Works with Firefox 1.5 and higher.

ScrapBook 1.4.5 is a Firefox add-on that helps you save web pages and easily manage your collections. Features allow you to save, search, organize, and edit snippets of a web page or site within the collection. Works with Firefox 3.0 or higher.

Tab Utilities is a Firefox add-on that gives you control over your Firefox browser tabs. You can customize the opening and closing of tabs, tab highlighting (set color for tab types), mouse-click menus, etc. Requires Firefox 3.0 or higher.

Peers Instant Search 2 is a Firefox add-on that allows you to preview Google and Yahoo search results and suggestions in real-time in your Locationbar and Searchbar. Requires Firefox 3.5 or higher.

FeedGhost 1.0 (2.15 MB) is an easy to use RSS news reader that organizes your web feeds. Features include customizable layout and color scheme, custom tags, feed specific filters, etc. Freeware for Windows XP/ Vista/ 7.

Wyzo 3.5 (11.3 MB) is a new web browser that accelerates web downloads, integrates torrent downloads and incorporates the cinematic web. Other features include compatibility with Firefox plugins, improved security and quick switch tabs. Freeware for Windows 98/ ME/ NT/ 2K/ XP/ 2K3/ Vista/ 7.
