Become a Pay Per Click Expert in 5 Quick and Easy Steps!

By Scott Jason in Website Promotion
Email This Post

website promotion Ever heard of the 90/10 pay per click rule? Basically it says that 90% of PPC success is enjoyed by only the top 10% of advertisers who know the inside methods to getting the most from their PPC campaign. And oddly enough, it’s basically true. Especially when it comes to Google’s AdWords, which offers the most advanced methods to help advertisers get their money’s worth (and then some!)

Some people use pay per click (PPC) as their primary source of search engine marketing while others use it as a way to get steady supplemental targeted traffic. As an SEO professional I’ve developed PPC campaigns for my clients so they get targeted traffic while the organic optimization is ramping up, which often takes weeks or months. Whatever the reason, PPC is a good way for any online business owner to get targeted traffic and a great way for those who know how to use the system to their advantage. And that’s exactly what this article will do for you.

But before we dive in, just why is AdWords so valuable? There are plenty of reasons but for starters…

1.) AdWords listings are seen by more than 80% of all Internet users on millions of sites ranging from Google and AOL to very specific niche locations it would otherwise take forever to research and manage independent advertising accounts with.

2.) Your ads can be targeted specifically by region or language.

3. ) Ads that you can constantly update and test are a great way to test what keywords are really best for targeting in your organic SEO efforts, which can be very time consuming and expensive.

Step 1: Get an AdWords Account

If you don’t already have an AdWords account, it’s easy enough to sign up for at http://adwords.google.com. Once you have your account you can begin creating ads and finding the best keywords. Actually, you can use Google’s free AdWords keyword research tool even without an account by visiting https://adwords.google.com/select/KeywordToolExternal.

Step 2: Develop a Killer Ad

Here are the things to know about ad development broken out by Title and Body…

Ad Title:

1.) Use targeted keywords NOT your company name

2.) Mention a benefit, rather than a feature.

3.) Take advantage of the “Dynamic Titles” feature by entering the following code in your title “{KeyWord: Your Keyword}” (without quotes.) This allows you to use the same ad body text with a dynamically generated title that matches exactly what the searcher is looking for and makes your and the most relevant it can be. By the way, this is case sensitive; “{KeyWord: Your Keyword}” will make the first letter of each word capitalized while “{keykord: your keyword}” will make it all lower case.

Ad Body:

The body or text of your ad need only do two things; hook ‘em and then reel ‘em in. The hook is something that peaks their interest such as “Increase your Profits with XYZ software.” While reeling them in involves what traditional marketers refer to as a “call to action.” This might be “Download your Free 30 day Trial now.”

Note: Do not over capitalize your ad. At best just capitalize the words you feel are most important to the viewer. It’s OK to capitalize the first letter of each word in the title but not the body.

Step 3: Maximize URL Usage

While we’re on the subject of what the searcher sees in your ad, we need to consider the URL. Google will let you make the visible URL different than the actual URL leading to the landing page where the visitor will end up after clicking your ad. This is huge! Take advantage of it.

This feature will let you test multiple landing pages in your ads to see what pages are converting sales best while showing the visitor the “display” URL for your product. Let’s say the landing page being tested in this particular ad is “…com/XYZ/purchase3.htm.” When that ad gets clicked you will soon see if “/purchase3.htm” is converting better than “/purchase1.htm.” But here’s the magic… By using a display URL of “…com/XYZ/” , and actually having the product there as well, you are building your brand and providing a visual queue for users to manually type in the URL if for some reason your landing page is unavailable.

Step 4: Use Special Keyword Advantages

Obviously keywords are a very big factor in the success of your campaign. Choosing the best keywords is extremely important and using Google’s “Keyword Matching Options” can help take your great keywords one step further. Just click the “Advanced option: match types” link when setting up your ads and choose from the following…

1.) Broad Match: Is the default and will show your ad each time all of the keywords in your keyword phrase are entered.

2.) Phrase Match: Looks for the order of words in your keyword phrase and only shows your ad if the order matches. Your ad will still show if your phrase is any part of the search query, but only if the word order is the same.

3.) Exact Match: This is the most stringent and will only present your ad if your exact keyword phrase, and ONLY your exact keyword phrase, is used.

4.) Negative Match: This is a nice feature that will stop your ad from showing if a word appears in the search query that you don’t want to get clicks for. The most common example is “free” which would eliminate you paying for clicks from people who just want a free version of what you offer.

Step 5: Find and Use the Best Keywords

Now for the most important aspect of your pay per click campaign; keyword selection. The more targeted keywords you can find, the better. Google offers a great free keyword tool as we discussed early on. Here are the qualities to look for in your keywords:

1.) A good “Average Search Volume” rating (check out the blue bars)

2.) A high search volume for the previous month (especially true for seasonal topics)

3.) The lowest possible “Advertiser Competition” rating

4.) Look for common misspellings and use the “exact match” feature to get plenty of low cost targeted traffic.

5.) Scroll down the page and find hidden gems that others miss. There are a lot for those who look carefully enough.

Insider Tip: You can also collect hundreds of low volume keywords, put them in a spreadsheet for easy upload and use the “Dynamic Title” feature we discussed earlier to generate hundreds of low cost highly targeted leads.

Professional Tip: SEO professionals typically use specialized keyword selection and spy software because it does weeks worth of work in a matter of hours. Keyword Elite (http://www.KeywordEliteWeb.com) for example, can generate thousands of valuable keywords in minutes and does “ethical spying” that exposes the competition and makes placement takeover easy.

That’s all you need to know to join the top 10% of PPC advertisers getting the most out of their campaigns with minimal effort. Best of luck!

A 6 Steps System To Online Business Failure

By admin in Website Promotion
Email This Post

website promotion I always like to write articles that talk about how to make money online and succeed.

After seeing so many people do things that can have a negative impact on their internet business, I have decided that I want to write something about this topic.

If this is the direction that you are in, then you will know what to do.

First step: Don’t allow people to subscribe to your email newsletter on your website

If you really want to make less sales every month from your online work at home business website, then don’t offer your visitors the chance to subscribe to your newsletter. Don’t try collect their name and email directly from your website. Don’t even think about doing this.

Even if you already have an auto responder system up and running, make sure to buy non double opt-in lists from someone else. Keep spamming other people who have never really opted into your personal newsletter. This means that they never gave you their personal permission to email them.

2nd step: Spend all your advertising funds in one place

Take your money that you have and spend it all in one place only. Put all your eggs in one basket. If this ad does not work out for you and you lost all your money, call it quits.

Instead of testing different ads and seeing which ones bring in the best results, do the opposite.

3rd step: You know it all, right?

If you really want to fail, don’t find a role model. When you have the chance to learn from someone who is a guru and wants to help you, don’t listen to them. Just try to do everything in your way and try to “reinvent the wheel” all by yourself.

4th step: Jump from one program to another

Get your internal juices flowing and get excited about a brand new online business. Pay the fee to get started. Work it a few days and when it doesn’t work out like you wanted it to work, quit it. Then start looking for the next great web based business. Join that too, work it a few days and when that program doesn’t work for you, quit that one too. Repeat the same cycle over and over again.

5th step: Don’t write down any goals

One of the best ways to fail online is to never write down any short term or long term goals. If you really want to fail online, don’t even think about writing your goals down.

6th step: Associate with negative people

Another good way to fail on the internet is to take advice from people who have tried to make money online before but failed. If they tell you that you can’t make money online, then listen to them. They know what they are talking about.

If your friends and family tell you that you won’t succeed, then follow their advice too.

Don’t ever listen to a successful online marketer who is trying to teach you the same methods that they have been using to make a nice full time income on the world wide web.

If you follow the steps above, you will reach your goal of online failure. If you really want to succeed with your own internet home based business, then just do the opposite. It is that simple.

7 Killer Ways To Make People Click on Your Ads

By Mervyn Love in Website Promotion
Email This Post

website promotion Fed up with wasting money on ads that don’t work? Here are some killer ways to turn things around and get writing ads that pull in the clicks, visitors and sales in droves.

1. Reverse Psychology

This is where you encourage people to do the opposite of what you really do want them to. For instance, if you want them to sign up for your marketing newsletter say something like “If you’ve got all the sales, visitors and profits you need, don’t sign up for our SuccessNewsletter”. Just remember that people don’t want to be told what to do, or what not to do, so out of sheer cussedness, and a helping of curiosity they will click.

2. Use exciting and appealing words

People respond best to words that appeal to their emotions and to their desire for money, so use words that aim at these two aspects of the human psyche. Use words such as You, Ultimate, Free, Master, Power, Discovery, Easy, Guaranteed, Love, Money, New, Scientific, Profits, Proven, Results, Incredible, Discover, Breakthrough, Secret, Private, Cash, Shocked, Shocking, Revealed, Uncovered, Hidden, Exciting, Sizzling, Hot and so on. Be careful not to overdo it as less is more when it comes to emotive words.

3. Offer a discount

The Internet started out as the place to get things free. Usually this meant information in the early days, so capitalise on this basic human instinct of wanting ’something for nothing’ and offer your visitors a discount if they buy NOW! Alternatively off a free bonus. Make it compatible with the product you’re selling so that they both form a useful combo.

4. Include testimonials

If you have people write or email you thanking you for your product, get back to them and ask if you can quote them in your advertising. Mostly they will be happy for you to do so. This lets prospective buyers know that a real person has got a real benefit from your product or eBook etc. Don’t be afraid to ask for a testimonial. Send buyers a follow-up email to see if they have benefited from your product and ask them to tell you why (if they have). Testimonials are one of the most persuasive tactics there are.

5. Use a guarantee

Always use a strong guarantee in your ad. One guarantee you often see on downloadable products is ‘Try this eBook for 8 Weeks’ because this is now the length of time ClickBank will offer an automatic money back facility. Other payment providers may differ. Include the guarantee in your headline: ‘Our eBook Will Save You Money - Guaranteed!’

6. Tell your customers what to do

People will often act on an instruction such as ‘Click Here Now’. It may be stating the obvious but this is again the psychology of the prospect. They often need just that little nudge to make them take action.

7. State the major benefit of your product or website

Make sure you tell people what the major benefit of your product is. Even in a classified ad you must answer the question ‘What’s in it for me?’ With some products this is not difficult. For instance if you product is a cure for acne, make you can say something like ‘Our product can cure your acne in 21 days’. If you are selling something less obvious you could say ‘Our Nirvana CDs will soothe and relax you after a hard day’. Make it clear what benefit your product or website has to offer.

Now take a good look at your current ads and apply one or more of the tactics given above and you will begin to see some real results. When you do, why not email me and let me know? I like to get testimonials too!

How To Rebrand Practically ANY Link Or Text In Any PDF

By Willie Crawford in Website Promotion
Email This Post

pdfSometimes your customers tell you exactly what they are looking for in a product, and even point out features, or hidden benefits, of your existing products.

If you listen closely, they even show you whole new ways of marketing your products.

The perfect example, offering a powerful marketing lesson, in our new Viral Document Toolkit, a PDF brander and rebrander.

Viral Document Toolkit was designed to allow a user to create, or import and edit, a text document, or any document created in the Microsoft Office Suite, Open Office Suite, or related programs. It can also easily handle any RTF file.

After the file is edited in the Viral Document Toolkit “Builder” specifying which parts are to be rebrandable, it is saved in a special file format (a .vdt format). That .vdt file, along with the Viral Document Toolkit “Brander” is passed along to customers, joint venture partners, affiliate, etc.

Those that you pass rebrandable files to, open the Viral Document Toolkit Brander, browse to where a rebrandable file is, and then open any file with the .vdt extension.

Once the file is open, the program instantly recognized all of the rebrandable portions of the document, and displays them in a table where you can change any of them that you choose to.

The Viral Document Toolkit software allows you to make plain text, hyperlinks, and embedded hyperlinks rebrandable. It even allows you to designate HUGE blocks of text as rebrandable (replaceable). You can also rebrand hyperlinks embedded behind images.

One of our potential customer was watching a video of the Viral Document Toolkit which was posted on our site at: http://ViralDocument/Toolkits.com and noticed that the software allowed you to do something ELSE that he wanted to do.

As he watched the demo video, and looked closely at the types of files that could be opened within the Viral Document Builder, he noticed that the dropdown list showed no only Word, WordPerfect, RTF, etc., it also showed several PDF options.

This customer instantly purchased the software because he had a number of old PDF files that he wanted to update. These files had links that no longer worked, and even sections of text that were no longer accurate. He saw this as the perfect tool to fix those problems.

When the customer purchased and began using Viral Document Toolkit, he noticed that his version did NOT offer the option for opening existing PDF documents.

He became VERY upset and quickly let us know that, accusing us of “tricking customers.”

We explained to him that the Viral Document Toolkit was never intended to allow you to modify existing PDF’s and that it couldn’t do that. That capability never crossed our minds as we developed the software.

The customer insisted that he had seen the software show PDF’s as an option in the dropdown menu in the demo video.

Upon going back and reviewing my own video, I discovered that he was correct. Viral Document Toolkit would indeed allow me to browse to and open any PDF document that wasn’t password protected or encrypted. If it was password protected, it would open it if I had the password.

Further digging revealed what had actually happened. Viral Document Toolkit uses the converters, and other “pieces” internal to software already on your machine to identify what types of documents are on your machine that it can manipulate. It can “see” practically anything that’s a part of the Microsoft Office Suite, for example.

The program was also “seeing” PDF converters that I had downloaded and installed on my laptop when I was working on other projects. On several occasions, I had documents ONLY available in PDF that I needed in Word format so that I could update them. These were generally documents that I had created or purchased the rights to change them, but that I couldn’t locate the source files for.

With the converts already installed on my machine, Viral Document Toolkit did indeed have the ability to use the pre-installed drivers/converters to change ANY PDF file that I have except those that were encrypted or password protected (where I didn’t have the password).

This customer has pointed out to us a “hidden benefit” of using our software that we had not even sought to create. That customer had pointed out to us a whole new segment of the marketplace to us.

That customer had shown us that we did indeed have a piece of software that would allow you to rebrand almost any link in any PDF document.

It goes without saying that you should not violate copyrights or licenses when changing PDF’s. However, an observant customer taught us “How To Brand Practically Any Link In Any PDF”

Willie Crawford in an internet marketing with over 11 years of experience in generating massive website traffic, subscribers and sales using viral marketing techniques. Viral Document Toolkit is the latest tool he shares with his visitors at: http://ViralDocumentToolkits.com

List Building - The Two Key Elements You Must Have

By Titus Hoskins in Website Promotion
Email This Post

One of the most important factors to online success is list building. No matter what goals you’re pursuing with your online activities, building a good healthy contact list is vital for a successful outcome.

List building plays a major role in developing good relationships with your site’s customers, clients and visitors. It can be used to get more traffic, leads and sales for your site or business.

For these reasons contact building should be high on your list of priorities when you’re marketing or promoting on the web. Fortunately, list building is an easy process that any site or webmaster can quickly set-up as long as you understand two simple, yet well-proven principles of list building.

To be really successful, your list building must incorporate these two key elements. Without these two main ingredients you will probably find building your contact list difficult and slow going. So it is worth your while to fully understand and utilize these two factors in your list building.

Any list should have these two key elements:

VALUE

Your list should have value. It should offer something valuable to the one subscribing. It should offer important information, quality content, special deals/discounts, and more importantly, it should offer a valuable relationship or connection to an expert in the subject area of the list.

Subscribers join a list for the benefits it will bring them, whether it be valuable content, special deals or a connection to an expert in their area of interest; your list must have value for the subscribers. They must benefit from joining your list.

If you’re building a list, just write down all the benefits someone would receive from joining your site or list.

  • receive important information
  • get special valuable content
  • receive special deals/discounts
  • get training videos/workshops
  • get timely announcements or news

Make these benefits your main selling points when you’re building your list. Don’t forget there may also be a psychological reason for joining your list - many people like being part of a group or membership site. It’s human nature, we all want to be emotionally involved with certain topics or causes, so don’t ignore this aspect when building your list. Everybody likes to feel included - lists can fulfil this emotional need.

Simply give your subscribers something of value and you will build your list quickly and easily.

FREE

Whatever you offer - make sure it is Free. The quickest way to build any list is to give away free valuable content, information, videos, reports, ebooks, discounts, prizes… everybody loves a free gift. Just make them an offer they can’t refuse.

Some marketers argue that giving away free items will attract the “wrong kind” of customer or subscriber - people that will never buy anything because they will expect it to be free. But this has more to do with the nature of your gift and the kind of contacts you’re building - giving away free buying guides on how to purchase real estate, fast cars, LCD TVs, laptops… will definitely attract the right “buying customer”. If you’re into selling, you just have to adjust your marketing to incorporate the free element correctly.

Besides, giving away something free is the first step in starting an ongoing relationship with your subscribers. It gets the ball rolling. It is one of the most effective ways to build your list quickly and easily. Just make sure you’re giving away something of value to the person receiving it and they will turn to you, time and time again, to find what they’re looking for on the web.

So the next time you’re building a contact list make these two key elements the center of your activities. Just remember “give them value and make it free” and you should have no problems with list building.

Network Marketing Opportunity, List Building or Both?

By Mark Draugelis in Website Promotion
Email This Post

I heard, before I joined an on line Internet Marketing system, to build a list first. I was foolish. I brushed it off. One I didn’t have anything to offer a list to start one. And two, I didn’t realize the importance of having a list. I spent $2,000 to join a program which I believed in. I figured I could make 2 or 3 sales a month and my business would grow. Boy was I wrong! I then spent another $800-1,000 in advertising without making one sale. Pretty discouraging. I bounced checks and paid bills late for months waiting for a break through that never came.

I absorbed myself in Internet Marketing though. I probably spent 60-80 hours a week, for about 10 months, studying on line and listening to audios about Internet Marketing to and from work. I’ve probably been on 300-500 different Internet marketers list. I probably have over 500 ebooks on Internet marketing. All given to me for free to be a subscriber to an Internet marketers list. If I wasn’t receiving 30-60 sales letters a day from being on those list, I might have had time to read one or two of those books by now. Actually, they have come in handy. When something does stump me, I do have all of those resources and I have learned from them.

It was through being on on those list that equipped me to be able to build my own list. When you’ve been on that many list you know which ones could grow quickly and which ones won’t. 90% offer the same products, whether for free or for sale. So, even as a newbie, you can start your own list. You don’t need unique products, you just need to set yourself apart from the 90% group! In fact, even the 10% group sells a lot of the same products.

So, what’s the difference? Patience, and the willingness to want to train new Internet marketers the ropes. The smart list builder will develop a relationship with you and give you free Internet Marketing training before they try to make a sale to you. The majority of them give you a free ebook, which they got for free anyway, along with a sales page ($49 price goes up $20 at midnight!) and then they fill your email box day after day with more sales letters until you unsubscribe. I do have patience though. I’ll usually give them the benefit of doubt and give them a couple of weeks before I unsubscribe.

I’m a faithful subscriber to about 5 or 6 Internet marketers. Because they have patience, they teach me a lot, they even offer free audio and video training. Now, when they are all out there promoting the same things, are you going to buy that $49 product from some one that gave you an ebook that they got for free, or are you going to buy that product from one of the guys that has invested in you? Because when one these guys offers me an affiliate program or Network Marketing opportunity, I’ll look it over because these guys have invested time and training into me, and I owe them at least that. Even if the time isn’t right for me, if the opportunity interest me, I’ll save it and look it over again in the future.

The point is is you can join one of the Internet Marketing opportunities out there and spend thousands of dollars with out making a sale. There is a lot of competitors selling the same products or a different one. But, odds are, by the time a person clicks on your ad they’ve already seen it 5 times in the last hour. You still have to pay $1 or so for each click. It gets very expensive and discouraging when they click and leave. I’m suggesting that instead of wasting thousands of dollars, be patient first off, and second build a list of people interested in Internet Marketing by training them list building first. You can earn a very good income doing this without sending out a sales page every day. Then when you are lucrative, find an opportunity that you believe in, and offer that to the list you built that you already have a relationship with and sales should follow!

Video for Search Engine ranking stupidity

By Paul Easton in Website Promotion
Email This Post

Recently some promotional videos claim top ranking quickly, but the advice given is not quite right. This relates to several products I have seen recently on using video for Google ranking and the way they are being promoted.

Some of these promotions are been portrayed as a 5 minute push button solution to top search engine ranking, and in the example, they are correct but there is more too it than that. Warning rave coming!

Lets say you are playing a game of tennis against a 10 year old. You, as the adult, don’t need to work hard, just a few well placed shots and you are winning. Great for the ego, but not really any kind of achievement.

Now lest say your 10 year old runs home crying and brings back his brother, Sam. Now the brother plays some tennis, but you still achieve a win. (Bare with me I do have a point).

Now the win this time provides a much better feeling and you have achieved something over a similar opponent.

Now let say the brothers says his cousin also plays tennis and he is currently staying with them. He asks if you would be interested in playing him? ” Sure ” you say after all you have had success already and are feeling confident.

The cousin arrives and suddenly you don’t feel so confident- he introduces himself, but he really didn’t need too….”Hi, I am Sam’s cousin, Pete” - You shake his hand and you stutter….Pete Samapras?

He nods and you begin to play. Very quickly he wipes the previous smile from your face when each and every ball is sent past you for another point.

Now what’s my point here.

Now did the game change? No

Did the rules change? No

Did the standard of competition change? Yes

The competition playing field had changed creating different results.

People just love the fast quick fix. It is a video service product which allows you to upload videos to several places instantly and also create social bookmarks for you.

The video that is being shown creates ranking in Google in the top 5 in hours not months.

Here is where I have a problem….The example shows what I call an “ego keyword” - good for ego, not for pocket - not a money making keyword. The term that its shows rank for does not have enough people searching for it. (so what is the point anyway?)

Due to it being brand new content, Google would automatically rank it high, after a few days it would then suffer a “Google bounce” and it settle back down to a reasonable position. That really doesn’t matter because not enough people are searching for it any way

See this is the competition comes in. If it were a money keyword, then it would have competition, from at least some sites that know what they are doing. Who wants to be ranked high for something no one is likely to be searching on? I have yet to see anybody prove using video is a way of getting real money making top rankings. Please point me to someone if you know anybody!

You can get traffic from videos and viral marketing going on by putting the videos up and getting others to comment on them, making them top in Youtube which will bring you some recognition and more visitors- Really this is using a database to drive it.

The final point is to stop looking for the “microwave” search engine ranking results- The major search engines don’t allow it to happen. Anybody can achieve a top ranking if they have done the work to get it.

Four Powerful Ways to Keep Your Customers Informed

By Scott Oliver in Website Promotion
Email This Post

These days, it’s hard to walk down the street without seeing some sort of news headline or hearing about the latest story. With instant messaging, internet on our phones, and simply talking to our friends, we are constantly bombarded with the latest updates. However, when it comes to your website, you need to act in the same way. Though you might not be able to report on anything catastrophic on your website, in order to be memorable, you do need to start looking at ways to keep your customers informed.

Mailing Lists Do Work

Though many websites have eschewed the use of mailing lists to inform their customers, when done right, these are highly effective reminders for customers. The key to doing these mailing lists well is to get the mailing lists on your own - don’t buy them from marketing groups. While it’s true you will get longer lists from the marketing groups, you might also be getting a lot of negative feedback from people who didn’t want to receive your information in the first place.

On your website, create a way for interested visitors to sign up for a weekly email from you. All they should need to do is to give you their email address and their first name and they can find out what’s new with your site each week. This email shouldn’t be a sales letter, but more of a note about what’s going on and what people might want to stop by your site to see.

eZines are Still Going Out to Customers

To extend on the idea of a mass email list, you might want to look into making a magazine for your mailing list, or an ezine. This piece of information should be longer than your weekly email, but it should also contain some sales language about things that are coming up for your business.

This is the perfect way for you to update and inform your visitors about your market, while also showing that you are knowledgeable about your chosen business. Try talking about new findings in your market, for example, if you are selling nutritional products. Think about ways to give your site visitors something that they might not have learned on their own.

Daily Blogging is a Fun Avenue

Of course, if your business is a little less formal, you might want to opt for a business blog. This can be from the point of view of yourself or perhaps a fictional worker in your company. By simply talking about the latest news and what it means for the site visitor, you can create a modern dialogue that allows you to show your casual side, while still being informative.

You can also talk about loyal customers or about new innovations to products that are in the works.

Try Sending Out a Press Release

If all else fails, the press release is still the best way to rest the maximum amount of potential visitors that want to see your site. However, since these releases are generally send to a larger audience, it’s harder to target the customers you really want to target. If you can, you might want to try to submit the press release to publications that your target audience will be looking at as well as posting it on your website to help spread the word about a new product or service.

When it comes to informing your customers, you need to make sure you explore as many possibilities for doing this as possible. While you don’t want to be the only thing on your customer’s mind, you do want to be one fo the top ten.

The Ten Most Effective Ways To Promote Your Website

By Matthew Gio in Website Promotion
Email This Post

In a nut shell, this is what I’ve found that will help promote your website. These methods are very effective. Keep this blog post as a reference and make sure you are doing all these things. Ok here it goes:

1. Adwords (or any search engine ads at all)

Of course we all know that Google is the top dog but there are many other decent search engines that will get you the same good traffic. For $40 bucks a day I get over 100 unique hits on my website. Every little bit helps

2. Blogging

Even if hate to write, just post relevant information regarding your site just make sure you give credit to who wrote your blog post. Oh and link on your blog post like crazy. I didn’t believe in this method at first but trust me I have learned the ways of the blog.

3. Mailing List

This is a tough area. Its like you need money to make money. But in this case you need email addresses to send emails. Do your best in trying to provoke your customers into signing up for your mailing list. Offer something for free (not a free newsletter) something legit. This will help you by encouraging repeat visits. Its better to keep the same visitor than trying to get new ones, plus it’s easier. Oh and it’s good for word of mouth (which is still the best way to advertise)

4. List, Register & Sign Up!

Spend at least one whole day signing up for every freaking search engine, directory and relevant search site you can. The more you name and website are out on the internet, the better you are ranked by the search engines

5. Links

Ok this is tricky, yes you want your link on as many websites as you can but even better than that is getting your website linked on a website that is really big. If you are officially linked to a big website that will look very good to search engines. Think of your link as a vote to get you to the top of the search engine. And think of a big website and your link like a campaign contribution. That’s right, get the big guys behind you and they’ll help you climb your way to the top. It’s all about who you know.

6. SEO

If you don’t know what this is, then learn. SEO (Search Engine optimization) is very important. The whole point to internet marketing is to get to the top or as high as you can on search engines. They are the number one way people find things on the internet. So in order to help your chances make sure you website is riddled with good keywords, relevant ones. If you are having a hard time with this, follow this logic: If you are online and you wanted to find a website like yours, what would you do? What would you type into a search engine. Ask yourself that question and then ask that question to everybody you know. That way you get a better understanding on what people are searching for.

Also add meta tags like keywords, descriptions and alt tags to all your pages. You can do this all at the end if you want.

7. The No Brainer

Just make sure your site looks good. If you have a crappy looking website then chances are no one will want to stay. For instance if you never cleaned your house do you think new guest will want to sleep over. Nope. And if you suck at making a website look awesome enlist a professional or someone with a clue to help.

8. The Little Things

Do these little things to your site: Add a “Tell A Friend About This Site” Button (For word of mouth, the best marketing), Add a “Bookmark Us” button to your site, give away free stuff, lure customers with contests, make jokes, get an RSS Feed (if you don’t know what that is, then learn, if you are a website designer then you should already know), put some fun things to do on your site to get people to stay. Case in point: Your having guest over for coffee but your TV is broke, all your board games are missing and you just recently started not talking to anyone, your guest will want to leave because it’s boring and it sucks.

9. Get On Myspace or Facebook

If your website is looking for a younger audience then get on anyone of these site and make friends will as many people as you can. Spend hours a day doing this. Make sure your page is chock full of ways to get to your site. This will boost traffic like nobody’s business.

10. Last But Not Least

Be consistent. If you want to have a high traffic website ,then you need to dedicate yourself to the cause. You need to be on the internet doing these things every single day. It’s just like exercising or dieting, if you don’t stick to it everyday, you will fail. But I have faith in you, do as the Romans do.

Improve Your Link Popularity With Website Promotion

By Bruce Swedal in Website Promotion

So you finally started your website. You have updated it with some high quality, unique and relevant content to make your visitors stick around so now what? Now all you have to do is get those visitors to come. So let them know about your website by building links that point towards your website and gain some link popularity.

There are a couple different kinds of links you will be interested in. The first is one-way links and the second is reciprocal links.

One-way linking generally happens for websites that have a lot of quality and unique content on site and these are the type of links that search engines give more weight to. A good technique to build that content is to post relevant articles and information on your site that visitors will want to read.

You can also visit forums related to your niche. Become known there by offering and asking for advice. Make sure that anything you post is related to the topics being discussed. If you post off topic items just for the sake of advertisement you will likely earn a bad reputation there and have your posts deleted. Offer value in your posts and you will gain a good reputation and get free exposure for your website.

Online quality directories are a great source of one way relevant links for your site. Keep your submissions confined to those directories of high quality. Typically there is a review fee associated with being listed there. Yahoo directory has a good impact for the link, but charges $299 annually. Another excellent option for a significantly smaller fee is the Authority Directory.

There are many free directories on the internet also, but the quality of the link you get from free directories is typically not that good. For example the link from one quality directory typically will equal hundreds to thousands of free directory submissions.

Article publishing is another option. You can write and publish unique articles related to your niche with a link back to your website. This is not a one and done option though. If you are pursuing this you must consistently write and publish articles for it to be effective.

Blogging can also be a way of building links to your site. By creating a separate blog and linking to your directory from within the posts you can create a few relevant links to your site.

Using reciprocal linking is another method of building relevant links to your website. To effectively do this you must find other websites within your niche and request link exchanges with the webmasters there. One thing to note is that the search engines have begun to discount the value of reciprocal linking.

Don’t discount link popularity. It is a very important part of building a website that is optimized for search engines. Just know that link building is not a one and done proposition. You must consistently build links over time for it to be effective for the long term. As your links increase so shall your search engine rankings and then your traffic.
