Multimedia Applications & Tools

Below are software applications that were selected for inclusion in the daily SiteProNews newsletter. The programs are both shareware and freeware, and all were selected for their usefulness to webmasters in the management of their web sites.

MediaTracker 1.1 (44.8 MB) provides an easy way to display pictures, stream music and video directly to another computer. Files don't have to be transferred to show them. Simply open a picture in the viewer, and it appears on the other person's screen. You can zoom, rotate and adjust image brightness and contrast. Suports VOIP communication and webcams. Quick Media Converter 3.5.7 (24.5 MB) is a universal video/ audio converter that converts one file format to another. Over 20 file types supported. Also handles batch conversions, desktop activity recording and Web cam and DV cam captures. Freeware for Windows 98/ NT/ 2k/ Me/ XP/ Vista.

FormatFactory 1.32 (14.8 MB) is a multifunctional media converter. Features include format conversion for video, audio, and picture files, file size reduction, file repair, iphone & ipod support, etc. Freeware for Windows 2000/ XP/ 2003/ Vista.

TubeMaster 1.2 (4.4 MB) can capture multimedia files (such as flv, mp3, mp4 ...) from YouTube, DailyMotion, MySpace, Google, etc. as well as convert them to other popular video or audio formats (avi, mpeg, mp3, mp4, ipod, psp ...). Freeware for Windows XP.

Unbind TV 1.1 (5.1 MB) allows you to produce a live video event and stream it over Unbind.TV's media server to viewers who can watch it using Windows Media Player. MediaSniper 2.0 (124 KB) is a simple program for downloading media files from popular sites like YouTube, Google Video etc. Freeware for any OS with Java Runtime Environment (JRE 6+). Does not generate logs or modify system files. Minimizes to system tray.

SayAndPost 0.53 (192 KB) is a tiny application that allows you to record a voice message and post it online immediately. Just record and insert a link to the voice file into your email, webpage or forum post. Easy to use and understand. Freeware for Windows 2000/ 2003/ XP/ Vista.

WildVoice Studio 1.0 (26.5 MB) makes it easy and fun to record podcasts and other audio. Create professional, quality podcasts in minutes. Just talk live and mix in music and other recordings. Freeware for Windows XP. Requires online registration.

Netvue Image Finder 2.0 (324 KB) searches for internet images and then displays the full-sized pictures in a slideshow format. You can save selected images, set desktop wallpaper, email pictures to friends or open your browser to the original page the image was found on. Freeware for all Windows versions.

WifiRadio (10.7 MB) is a Desktop Media Player, Broadcast Machine and Windows Mobile Media Player rolled into one unique application. Great for bloggers, publishers, musicians and anyone who wants to run their own radio station. Supports most popular audio, video and playlist formats. Freeware for Windows XP.

Freecorder (983 KB) is an easy-to-use program that lets you record any sound you can hear on your PC, including Skype calls. Recordings are saved as MP3 files. You can also record from the microphone or line-in inputs! Freeware for Windows 98 and higher.

Debut 1.1 (390 KB) is an easy-to-use video recorder that can capture video files directly from your PC using a webcam, or other input source. Can also record screen captures. WebVideo 2 iPod (10.5 MB) allows you to download video files from google, youtube, ifilm and other sites, and convert them to iPod video format. Batch download multiple video streams from multiple video sharing sites and batch convert.

Wavosaur 1.0.0.6 beta (136 KB) is a powerful audio editor, ideal for editing audio clips, sound designing, mastering, and audio recording. Also a VST host, meaning you can use VST effects on your recordings. MIDI controllable. Freeware for Windows XP.

XVid (772 KB) is a video player designed for watching movies saved in different formats such as avi, mpeg, asf, and DivX. Features include simple user interface, window and fullscreen display, zoom, auto-playing movies by playlist and much more. Freeware for Windows 98/ME/XP/2000/2003.

MyViewPad (2.6 MB)uses the best digital graphics engine available. It reads about 80 image formats and writes to about 25 formats. Nice interface with a number of image editing functions. It can also receive images from scanners and cameras. Freeware for Windows 98 and above.
