How To Check Search Engine Ranking Strategies
By Anthony Harris in Featured
Your search engine ranking is the position of your website on any particular search engine (Google, Yahoo, MSN, etc).
Because search engines favor the high-ranking sites, you need to check your search engine ranking continuously and find ways to improve your ranking. There are many free tools that can allow you to do this. Page ranks range from 1 to 10, with 10 being the highest (and virtually impossible to achieve). Even a rank of 1 on Google is considered high.
In order to obtain a high search engine rank, you need to employ SEO (search engine optimization) techniques. And this can take a significant amount of time and/or money depending on whether or not you do it yourself of hire someone else to do it. SEO software is also a viable option to consider.
If you’ve decided that you want to be the one to check your search engine ranking yourself, and to take care of the SEO for your website, you’ll need to make a daily habit of performing activities that build incoming links to your website and using the right keywords. Incoming links greatly influence your page ranking. If you can get a high-ranking site to link to your website, you will bypass a great deal of your competition.
However, obtaining these links can often take quite a bit of time and patience. There are several ways to go about this. You can write to other webmasters and ask them to link to you. You can submit your site to online directories. You can do article marketing. You can use a social bookmarking strategy. The list goes on and on. But the most important concept of all is that the information you offer on your site must be valuable. It is much easier to obtain links to your site when you are offering information that your visitors (or other webmasters) find valuable.
Keyword optimizing your site is also part of the SEO strategy, although less important than incoming links. The best ways to go about using the right keywords is to use the free keyword tools offered by all of the search engines. These free keyword tools tell you exactly what people are searching for on the internet.
Check out the words that pertain to the industry and use these words on your website. If you’re just starting out, go with very detailed keywords and not the general highly-searched and highly competitive ones. It’s estimated that about 60% of searches online consist of two to three keywords so try to stick with phrases that fit that. Make sure you use your keyword phrases in important places on your website like titles, headings, sub-headings, etc.
Whether you manage to optimize your website on your own, with the help of a consultant or agency, or with software programs to check search engine ranking, you will see that your position continues to climb and this will bring in more traffic to your website.

Actually, getting in the #1 spot is best, but I will settle for the top 5 or even anywhere on the first page for very competitive keywords. Obtaining those top rankings for your targeted keywords in Google will obviously be very important to achieving your online goals.
I don’t have some magic formula, just online marketing stuff that works. Very simple stuff that everyone can do to get those top rankings. Here are some of the tactics/things I do:
- article marketing through the free article directories
- create videos on my niche products
- make blog posts in my niche areas
- do press releases for my targeted products
- create free ebook guides on my subject areas
- build separate lists for each major niche market with follow-up emails
- participate in online forums with my sig links added
Why is SEO So Important for E-Commerce Websites? The Basics.
By Forrest Yingling in Featured
In this modern age, it is increasingly important to make sure your websites are optimized for the major search engines through the use of Search Engine Optimization (SEO) practices. The current top three search engines are Google, Yahoo and Bing. Let’s face it though; Google is the major player and they set the standards when it comes to the Internet search industry.
There are a few basic practices you can follow to make your site more friendly to the search engines and thus rank higher for certain keyword phrases when users search for them. You just need to make sure you are conducting these practices properly. Being at the top of the search engines for your target keywords is a make or break factor for the success of your business.
There are millions of websites in existence and there could be thousands competing for the keywords you are trying to rank for. The Internet is a very competitive marketplace so it is vital to stay on top of the current SEO trends. Not being recognized by the top search engines can be very frustrating, especially after putting a lot of work and money into creating and designing your website.
Each search engine uses a different algorithm to conduct their searches. These algorithms are kept secret by the companies and are always changing. However, there are numerous people whose jobs consist of attempting to deconstruct these algorithms to figure out how the engines rank pages.
In order to increase your web page’s rank in the search engine results, take the following advice into consideration:
Keywords:
- Remember that content will always be king. Fill your web pages with relevant information that will help visitors – search engines love this.
- Fill your content with your target keywords but don’t overdo it by stuffing keywords into your pages. You need to keep your keyword density to no more than one anchor text keyword hyperlink per 100 words of content. If the pages of your site contain relevant keywords to a searcher’s search phrase then your site has a higher likelihood of appearing on the results pages.
- Be specific with your keywords. If you are selling “Men’s Nike Air Jordans” target that phrase not “Michael Jordan shoes.”
- When choosing keywords, put yourself in the shoes of the searcher. What would you search (WWYS)?
Meta Tags (Title, Description & Keywords):
- The title tag is the description of the current page you are on that appears on the top bar of your web browser. For SEO purposes, you need to use your first targeted keyword at the beginning of your title and try to describe what your website is all about In 10-15 words.
- The keyword tag consists of the list of keywords you have put together in your market research. Search your competitors websites and see what keywords they are using then rank them in order of relevancy from first to last.
- The description tag is a short explanation about the content of your website and its topic. Keep this under 20-25 words and try to use at least three to four target keywords. This is what users will see on the search engine results pages under the link to your site.
- For the best SEO results, edit the meta tags for each page of your website to match the contents of that specific page.
Submit Your Site to the Search Engines:
- It is a quick and painless process to submit to the top search engines. Simply visit the websites of the major search engines and fill out the corresponding submission forms.
- You should also submit your website to the DMOZ.org directory. It can take a few months to get listed but it is a great SEO technique and most sites listed in the directory get higher priority in the search results over sites that are not listed.
- Patience is a virtue when it comes to submission. It can take days or weeks for the search engine spiders to actually crawl your website and get indexed.
Build Links by Submitting Your Site to Directories and Niche Websites:
- The more meaningful links from high ranked websites linking to your site, the higher your search rating. However, this does not mean you should practice “link farming” or paying for links. This is considered a negative practice and can actually have a negative impact on your results rating and can even get you banned from the search engines.
- The best way to be featured in directories is to make a profile with a link to your page.
- Article marketing is another very valuable SEO tactic. Write articles with keyword hyperlinks pointing to your page. Other sites are happy to have quality content and you obtain linkage, so both sides win! You will also see direct traffic from these links which will help your site gain popularity.
- Link building is a time-consuming process that can take long periods of time to see real results, so again – be patient!
By following these simple SEO tactics, you can raise your ranking in the search engines!

So your website is up and running and the investment in time and money you’ve put into your PPC campaign is now paying off.
With the website tracking you have implemented, you have been able to fine-tune your campaign so that you now have a fairly good idea about who you’re marketing to, what they’re searching for and the highest converting and traffic keywords. You have also been able to slowly reduce your CPC (cost per click) down to a more reasonable level.
But like all good businesses, you are constantly looking for ways to improve on your ROI which in the world of internet marketing means higher click rates. You should also be fully aware that you need to know how to monetize the traffic you are generating from your website. Traffic means nothing if you’re not doing anything with it.
There are a multitude of free ways to improve your search engine ranking so that you’re on the first page (and hopefully first position) on your relevant keyword search results.
In this article I’m going to go through the main ways in which you can do this. The most common term used for this is Search Engine Optimisation or SEO.
A search engine’s primary purpose is to serve the user the closest match and most relevant information for any given keyword search. Search engines reward websites that have good quality, relevant information with high search rankings.
One of the ways that a search engine ranks a website is by the number of unique links the website has from other websites. From the search engine point of view, this is an indication that the website must have something of value to other websites.
There are some important key things you must always understand to have an effective SE marketing strategy.
1. Provide valuable, relevant content.
Don’t just fill your site with non-relevant garbage. All articles on your website should be relevant and consistent to what your website is about. Try to avoid using free article to pad out your website, as people will soon find out that the information is non-relevant and won’t bother visiting.
People need to be interested in the articles or else they won’t link to your website and you won’t build your rankings. This takes time…as I keep reiterating in my articles…”Rome wasn’t built in day.” Don’t get me wrong, there is nothing wrong with using free articles, but the least you can do is filter out any non-relevant stuff.
2. Try to add content to your website on a regular basis.
Don’t expect to be able to add 1000 articles to your website in one go and expect a 1st position ranking in Google overnight. To get a high ranking using these free techniques takes time. Try to think of your internet business as an organic thing like an oak seed. It might take a while before you see any results, but given a bit of time and attention, it will grow into something massive and long lasting.
Weblogging (or blogging) is probably the easiest way to add content regularly.
Specifically designed websites called weblogs or blogs allow for easy and regular posting of articles. Of the many blogging sites on the internet today, one of the most popular can be found at www.wordpress.com. In fact, this blog is being hosted by them.
When writing your articles, make sure the content is relevant to your website and make sure it will interest whoever is reading it. Make sure that the article has links back to your other websites, be they your personal website or your lead capture pages, so that you are encouraging people to click them and so build up your authority status and keep the search engines happy.
Remember, search engines sole purpose is to provide people with the best quality and most relevant information possible. If you are doing that, they will reward you with a higher search engine ranking.
3. Get your articles published by as many other websites as possible.
It is important to throw your net wide and get a large variety of different websites linking back to your websites. Use syndication sites, reprint rights, press releases and article distribution sites to get your articles published by other websites, so that you can steadily build up your search ranking.
How do you do this? In actual fact, this blog is a form of syndication. A popular method is to use RSS, which allows subscribers to be instantly notified of any new updates. You can also publish articles using article submission sites like www.ezinearticles.com or submityourarticle.com.
So how often should I publish an article or blog?
Well it’s really up to you, what your website is and what sort of ranking you want. Approximately 1-8 articles a month is optimal, but never more than this. Publishers soon get tired of numerous articles from the same author. The key is consistency. Submit an article a few times a month, every month, and you should see results in just a few months.
Because blogs and articles are a simple and effective way to get content out onto the internet, they can be misused and abused by people flooding blog sites with complete rubbish using automated scripts in an attempt to boost their search engine rankings. People want content that is interesting and relevant and will soon get bored and annoyed with sites that have obviously gone for the quick and dirty approach to providing relevant content.

Great Benefits Of Article Writing For Website Success
By Michael Tasker in Featured
The lifeblood of a website is not just traffic but targeted traffic. A successful website will have a flow of visitors that are searching for the exact information, product or service provided by that website. These are not the casual lookers, these are searchers who have a want and have found a website that satisfies that want. There are a variety of methods to attract such visitors and article marketing is one of the most effective.
One of the unbeatable advantages of article marketing is that it can be free. You write an article and submitted it to many free article directories. It is then found by those searching for such information and often taken with the author’s consent and displayed on other websites. The link contained with the article will direct the reader back to the author’s website. So here is a targeted lead generated from an article that is free and distributed to directories that are free.
Regard article marketing as free advertising for your website. Submitting your articles to other websites presents an opportunity to advertise your website without paying high fees. What you should keep in mind is that any article written should not be a blatant advertising piece for the product or service available on your website. The purpose of the article is to raise curiosity, give a snippet of information and make the reader want to click on the link that will take them to your website where you can then begin the selling process.
You should use articles as a means of improving your search engine page rank. Your website should have an article page where visitor can click on and read the various articles yet the real benefit lies in what they can do to improve your website in the eyes of the search engines. As you are adding relevant content to your website and making it “deeper” by creating an article page full of this content (including various keywords of your subject in the title and content of the article) the search engines will class the website as highly relevant source of information and push it up the indexed pages.
Another benefit of article marketing is increasing your websites link popularity. As each article is submitted you will include a resource box that give brief details about your website and includes a link to it. This will be indexed by the search engines and when your article is distributed around the web, the websites that pick up your article and publish it will become a link partner. So, the more articles you have, the more links that will be out on the web with a link pointing to your website. The search engines take account of the number and quality of links pointing to your website and will rank it accordingly.
As can be seen, by the publishing of a simple article, you can create a process, which can all be free, to establish a greater page rank for your website and push it higher up the search engine pages.

Search Engine Ranking and Article Marketing
By Peter Nisbet in Featured
The relationship between search engine ranking and article marketing is neither tenuous nor unknown: it is well understood, and used by many to attain high search engine listings for specific keywords. If you can write and also understand how search engines decide on their ranking positions, then you can use that knowledge to get very high search engine rankings.
Article marketing offers a number of ways of getting your web pages noticed by Google and the other search engines, and in these austere days when you have to make every dollar count, a high search engine ranking is essential for online business success, and article marketing can help you to achieve that.
That is not to infer that other means of promoting your website are not worth considering but it is a fact that an increasing number of articles are appearing in the Google listings for specific keywords. In fact, it is difficult at times to find a Google results page without at least one article listed on the page of an article directory. That in itself is sufficient incentive for anybody to use article marketing to improve their search engine ranking and so the traffic to their website.
So how do you do it? How do you get your article listed in page 1 of Google, as many of them are? One of the advantages of using article marketing as an SEO tool is that the article directories themselves do most of the search engine optimization for you, and all you need do is to get the keyword density and use of contextually related vocabulary right.
Although this is popularly known as LSI (latent semantic indexing) it isn’t really, because LSI is a concept as opposed to an SEO technique. What people really mean when using the term is that your text should contain vocabulary that relates to the keyword in a way that makes it clear to search engine algorithms just what the topic of your article is. If you get that right then Google will notice you: that is because Google regards the LSI algorithm of extreme importance in determining the relevance of your article to the keyword used by the Google user.
When writing articles, and using SEO to optimize them, never lose sight of the fact that the most important party here is the Google customer using the search engine to find information using the search term they have entered into the Google search box. Google will analyze every web page, including article directory pages, to find content that is most related to the keyword that Google customer is using. When your content is judged to have high relevance to the keyword used by the search engine customer, then that is when you get a high search engine ranking.
This is where a well written article, with well placed keywords (but not too many of them) will get your article listed on Page #1 for the keyword being used, and so as much traffic as possible. What many don’t appreciate is that every search is different, and that your web pages are on view to only one person at a time for each keyword. Although the monthly demand for that keyword might be 10,000, it is on view to only one person for each individual search, and you have to persuade the search engine (whether Google, Yahoo or any other
