Spotify now has 60 million active users worldwide.
The music-streaming service, which made the announcement Monday, said it also has 15 million paid subscribers, up from the 10 million paying customers and 40 million active users it announced in May.
The increase in the past seven months has been rather impressive — about a 50 percent increase, overall.
“We had an amazing 2014 at Spotify and owe it all to you, the music fans who listen, discover, share and celebrate music and artists with us every day of the year,” Spotify said in a brief post.
“So as we set off into the New Year, we want to send a giant thank you to all of you. We can’t wait for the year in music ahead!”
Spotify’s growth is particularly impressive considering the competition the company has. Pandora, its chief rival, had 76.5 million active listeners as of October, making it a formidable foe.
Newer to the game, but no less of a challenge are Apple’s iTunes Radio and Google Play Music.
Spotify has not released any of its plans for 2015, but it is a sure bet it will be doing all it can to close the gap between it and Pandora.
