Burner Provides Freedom of Generated Numbers

No Need to Hand Out Personal Contact Information

The protection of one’s personal cell number is becoming more and more difficult to achieve, but a new app is helping to address the issue.

Burner logoBurner promotes itself as a “privacy layer for your phone” by generating a local number people can use through their phone instead of giving out their own digits. It’s a handy tool to use if making business calls but not wanting to provide a personal number.

While there are other number burning apps available, Burner does not generate random digits meaning users get local numbers that work like their actual number and allow users to make calls, receive text messages and even come with voicemail so nothing goes missed. Ensuring there’s no confusion, Burner also comes with color coding abilities and Touch ID lock so users can keep track of calls through their regular number and the Burner number.

As noted by Android Headlines, Burner is a great feature for those who do a lot of sales through Internet sites such as Craigslist. Sellers — or buyers — can keep their identity secure by creating a burned number so they’re only dealing with customers or buyers without handing out their personal number.

“Keep a Burner as long as you want… or dispose of it at the touch of a button. Like magic, your number goes out of service and the data is wiped from your phone,” the app’s site explains.

Burner is available at both the Google Play store and through Apple’s App Store.
