Sometimes going longer can be a good thing.
Instagram gets that with news users will soon be able to upload longer videos. The photo and video-sharing application has announced as the amount of videos being consumed on the Internet increases it only makes sense to allow users to enjoy more for a bit longer.
“In the last six months, the time people spent watching video increased by more than 40 percent. And longer videos mean more diverse stories from the accounts you love, whether it’s Selena Gomez hanging out with friends or beauty star Bretman Rock’s latest makeup tutorial,” the company explained in a recent blog post.
Videos will soon be able to go for as long as one minute.
Users seem to embrace the idea as Newsfactor reported the post making the announcement received more than 200 likes. Yet, the move does come at a time when many users have expressed concern over changes to Instagram’s newsfeed. An algorithm-driven feed will soon be introduced changing the way users see information in their feed.
Instagram seems to be in damage-control mode by trying to assure users a change isn’t coming in the near future. However, the company also isn’t saying a change won’t happen, it just has not specified when it will occur.
