Instagram has unveiled video channels in its explore section to capitalize on the ever-growing popularity of video over still images.
“Despite the changes, Explore’s function remains the same in that it connects you to posts related to your interests from people you don’t yet follow.”
To take advantage of the changes, you will need to update your Instagram to the latest version.
Once you have the updated version, simply tap ‘Videos You Might Like’ and scroll through just as you would in the regular Instagram feed.
If a video catches your eye, you can tap on it to go to the original Instagram post or to send it to a friend. For videos you are not interested in, tap on the three dots in the upper-right corner of the video. This gives you the chance to either say you wish to see fewer videos like it or report it if you feel it is inappropriate.
Also, as you scroll through the Explore grid, you will likely see ‘Featured’ channels with videos on specific topics.
Initially, the update is available only to users in the United States, although Instagram said it is “working to bring this to the rest of the world soon.”
The latest update is available via Apple’s App Store and on Google Play.
