Alexa Now on Huawei Mate 9

Amazon’s Alexa has arrived for the Huawei Mate 9.

Huawei Mate 9Alexa is available to Mate 9 owners in the U.S. via an over-the-air update. It will soon be available via the Google Play Store as well.

Using Amazon’s Smart assistant on the Mate 9 is far from seamless, however. You must download both the Amazon Alexa app as well as Huawei Alexa. You also must open Huawei Alexa each and every time you want to use voice commands.

Using Alexa via the Mate 9, you can activate home automation, order from Amazon Prime (if you have an account, that is), sync with Google Calendar, access news briefs and other skills and access games and jokes.

The Mate 9, which comes in space grey, moonlight silver, champagne gold, mocha brown and ceramic white, runs Android 7.0 and boasts a 5.9-inch touch display.

Its Kirin 960 processor offers “blazing” fast performance, while the 4000 mAh battery and power-saving technology supply as much as two days of usage. Complete with a fingerprint sensor, front and rear cameras and 4K video recording capabilities, the phone comes with a $599.99 price tag.
